Seems like several people are wanting that to come out this year. Its either the 2D Mario for the Wii U or the 2D Mario for the 3DS, not sure which one is most likely to come out if any.

It seems it's just another project that Nintendo wanted to tell us about and then they cut off the news about it to start on their project. Thetre hasn't even been any leaks.
