lol ok.

I personally can't believe 360 won 2011. I seriosuly, seriously thought 360 would be last place by the end of it. PS3 exclusive, the price cut, and Europe/Japan edge would surely put PS3 over the top.

Guess NA and Kinect were bigger factors then any of us expected.

VGChartz seems rather accurate with its PS3 and 360 sales numbers, I'm impressed.

Did Wii numbers really drop off because of the Wii U announcement? The standard consumer would be oblivious to the fact the Wii U is even in development.

US is arguably the largest videogame market, and in that market the Microsoft brand is its strongest at the moment. So I'm not that surprised. Considering a good portion of those units were Kinect bundles, it seems Microsoft have now struck gold like Nintendo once did by tapping into that casual gamer market goldmine. I just hope they don't alienate the core and find a good balance.

And people say NA /= world.

It isn't...but it sure is the biggest and most relevant part of it (from a gaming sense).

I agree. People always say that the US does not equal the world, but... there is no question that the US is the biggest market for videogames and controlling said market dramatically improves your chances of controlling the world. What's even more midblowing is the thought that the 360 could have probably still won the year if you substract it's Japan sales.
