i hope KAZ. can turn things aro7und
Kaz is very qualified to turn the company around. He can communicate to the Japanese executives better than Stringer could. I'm surprised he had seven years and gained the three top positions within the company.
Bravia needs to maintain high quality, but the price on the consumer level needs to be within the price range of $400 to $1000.
PlayStation needs some major marketing muscle again. There have been too many years without a media blitz on any Sony products. Much less PlayStation products. Sony needs to have advertising that draws attention to the product. Something that makes an impact. Where's the fire, the passion, the motivation. More importantly, where is the confidence in your products Sony? The stuff I've seen for the last couple of years (outside of the Kevin Butler PlayStation ads) have been boring, dull and the commercials don't entice me to keep watching. That is something every company has problems with right now, but Sony has the artists and actors to start getting them to push the products they manufacture.
Supply them with every Sony product made, have them make testimonials on YouTube and Facebook and Twitter about how the [insert Sony product] improved their daily lives personally and with their family.
Kaz Hirai needs to bring that fire to the top. Get the people motivate like never before. The entertainment businesses don't need any real work done to them. However, Sony needs to launch a partnership with a place like Best Buy (in North America, I don't know what the comparable UK or EU version of BB would be) and have a section in the stores that are only Sony products. Something like a Sony Style Store within a Best Buy.
Showcasing the TVs, PlayStations, Blu-Ray Players, Service testing stations (The Sony Network Entertainment services, letting people try out Music/Video Unlimited, PlayStation Network and check out the PlayStation Store) and allow the customers to see the artists/actors/actress that are signed to Sony. Of course they need to have all their TV sizes, not just a single giant TV. Break out the 3D TVs and let potential buyers try out the difference between a Sony 3D TV and any of the competitors. Of course there needs to be a much more comparable price between them.
If people can go hands on, that will help people feel like they need to buy that product. Price will always be brought up as the reason a product doesn't sell, but if consumers can try out the "value" of the product and the person working at the store can effectively communicate all the ways that "value" can improve the customer's life. Then it makes it easier to just let the product do the talking.
This of course is one of the things I think Sony should bite on. Spend the money to launch a store within technology stores across the globe. I've got countless other ideas, but this is getting very long winded and I doubt anyone will actually read all the stuff I have right here anyways.
Anyway, I believe Kaz will do a great job.

Stringer was brought in because Sony was struggling... it isnt struggling because Stringer was brought in. He presided over a golden era for Sony Corp in the US from 1997 to 2005 before moving to oversee the whole Corp. The old guard, including clueless Ken, are the reason why Sony is where it is. The guy has a pedigree in business.... some things just take time or are a lost cause. Stringer has been a fall guy for a lot of the previous mistakes and has at least slimmed down the bloated mess that was in situ previously. People who see Kaz as a knight in shining armout really need to get a reality check. |
LOL
Didn't you JUST say a few short weeks ago that Sony was in dire straits?
"it isnt struggling because Stringer was brought in."
Sure is haters gunna hate round here

He will actually become head of the board of directors of Sony, as far as I read somewhere.
That means he will be Kaz's overseer and boss.

You mean the new "if only we had Monster Hunter we would have sold much better" hardware from Sony that is overengineered, expensive and does not sell?
Then good bye Sony.

I do love a considered and intelligent response, with the stock haterzzzzz suffix. I did say Sony is in dire straits, because it is.... If you think that is all down to Stringer then fine... it isnt... but fine. |
You credit him for the accomplishments of the playstation, and say he's not to blame for everything after that.
He OK'd playstation 3. You've called ps3 a nightmare (paraphrasing). Who's to blame, again?

Sony needs to stop using Sharp panels in their TVs. That is what's holding them back. They are garbage panels and expensive. They need to start making their own panels and sell them to other companies. That is what Samsung and LG do and most TVs on the market currently are using their panels. Sony in fact used to use Samsung panels. They also need to realize that their products are too expensive. They need to offer a wider range from low end to high and do a better job of explaining the difference......without BS marketing. That leads me to the last and probably most important part....MARKETING! Advertise the living piss out of your product like MS, Nintendo and Apple.
I doesn't matter, Sony is still doomed.
