Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft: Nintendo are not competing with other manufacturers; Nextbox not at E3 '12

Well this does make sense. If I remember correctly didn't the Wii not count too?

To those saying they are not competing with Nintendo... what do you say about Kinect? Did they buy out the tech and reveal the "Natal" all within a short span out of boredom? I think they did it because they wanted a peice of the Nintendo pie a.k.a. they went on to compete against the Wii and the market it seized control of.

Wonder what Microsoft has planned for this E3 if there's no plan to announce a new console.

Call of Duty map packs, timed exclusive Resident Evil 6 demo, and a live performance by The Monkees.

Halo 4, RySe, Fable : The Journey, Some New Games (or Not), More Kinect Games, Resi 6, GTA V Exclusive DLC (?)

Ryse was delayed, it will now be released on the NeXtBox. So if they do not announce a new console, don't expect new info on Ryse.

Sounds like the Xbox 360 will launch a year later than the Wii U and be significantly more powerful... more than the rumored 20% at least.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Well, I guess the only way not to lose against Nintendo is to not compete with them :P

yeah, they are not competing, that's why xbox360 sales got higher just when Wii sales got lower...

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

What a load of shite.

Eh, how exactly do you come to that conclusion? Don't get me wrong, of course it could be significantly more powerful than WiiU, but launching a year later doesn't really mean anything. Furthermore, just because MS thinks that they don't compete with Nintendo (which is pretty silly btw.) isn't a guarantee either.

I expect an announcement of the nextbox this year and a launch in 2013. Of course I wouldn't bet on it, it's just a guess.

2012 - Top 3 [so far]

                                                                             #1                                       #2                                      #3

First it would be stupid to launch a year later than the competition without having a significant hardware advantage. Ask Sony.
Second when they don't compete with Wii U, they are aiming at a different audience. Like they did earlier this gen. MS was core only and Wii casuals only. So MS aims for core gamers, which need to have a reason to play the 360 and 20% is not enough.

BTW I thin all three are competitors, no matter what they say.
