I'm always on a roll, what's your point?

You're going down a steep hill today.

The Kinect was created to try and get some of the Wii Sports, Wii Fit, and Wii Play audience.

Nothing more, nothing less. Any core games are just there to be there.

Maybe this wasn't news after all?

It's more like a confirmation if you ask me!

"We had a goal that was for the family audience - a more female and broader audience ," Delmas said in a rough translation of an interview with Le Point.  Delmas goes on to explain that over time the average "gamer" has changed considerably from what we had once envisioned.  The gamer today is not what TV shows or movies make them out to be.

^that's only what he said about kinect

This is the kind of stuff I see Kinect for:

http://www.vg247.com/2012/01/31/schafer-on-happy-action-theatre-and-kinects-future/

I guess core older games might be "WTF" but I think this is the kind of thing it is best at currently. I think the comments in the article are also sensible on how to approach Kinect use and what kind of games suit it.

There's no doubt Kinect is very good for certain experiences - the main issue it faces is being asked to support stuff it doesn't do well, whether as a result of taking marketing too far (MS have I believe somewhat overstated the device but to be fair not really much beyond how most stuff gets overstated in marketing) or the gaming community asking results of the device it simply isn't well designed to deliver.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
