MS is prioritizing the wrong things. I believe this will backfire in the next gen. You can only ignore the core gamer for so long.

They aren't ignoring the core gamer and now that they have so many studios set up for next gen you can expect an absolute huge amount of first party exclusives (both Kinect only and one's that can be used with a controller and Kinect)

A huge amount of Kinect games yes, but we have no evidence of many exclusives for traditional controls.

Even if some of the Kinect games are planned to be "core" Kinect games I am suspicious because I hold the belief that Kinect is near useless for core gaming except for the odd arcade style title such as Child of Eden (which would have been a cool experience with Kinect 2.0).

I will say this again. MS won't abandon the core gamer...it's really as simple as that.

Only because they abandomed them in 2010.

XBLA, Halo Remake, Forza 4, Gears of War 3, amazing 3rd Party games and my 360 is so hot i think its gonna get fire...

Yeah hardcore gamers have gone, they are no more on 360.

lol

You only listed two Microsoft IP's and the rest were third party. They are NOT investing in core IP's. Way to prove Microsoft cares. :)

Well unlike Sony that just takes blind shots in the dark, shots that usually miss and are forgotten, Halo 4 alone will win 2012 for 360 due to its flagship status.

Not to mention 360s other 2012 offerings, that most gamers are content with 3rd party games, the fact that all core gamers made their choice at this point, and MS trying to hold onto their new audience they just captured.

Sony isnt taking a shot in the dark. They are known for having a wealth of games and notable IP's every gen. They handle first parties far better than Microsoft does. If anything can be admitted this is it dude. Microsofts most notable IP this whole gen has been Gears and it isn't even their IP. On the other hand Sony has brought InFamous, Resistance, Uncharted, Little Big Planet, Mod Nation Racers and more out into the light and they are quality products. They might not be as popular but Sony has always been known for having a great wealth of reliable, quality titles. Microsoft is better at relying on third parties and truthfully any company would be good at letting others do the work for them. Sony and Nintendo are gaming companies though and take great pride in providing an abundance of quality games. Nintendo is proof that first party can trump third party because their wall of third party shovelware is astonishing.

Bolded = Yawn. Like I said, blind shots in the dark.

Nintendo is proof of how good 1st party can be, but thats because they established mascots and milked the crap out of them to make them easily recognizable names. And personally milking is a good thing so long as the quality is consistent. Sony 1st party does not even come close to Nintendo mascot status. Again....they are just trying out new ideas blindly.....desperately hoping just one IP can have a fraction of Mario or Halo sales. Closest they did this gen was Uncharted, and even then it sells less then 360s second best exclusive Gears, nevermind Halo.

MS relies more on 3rd parties and it has paid off this gen to do so. But they do have the smallest 1st party studios of the 3 so you really cant blame them for that. But now that they are expanding, next gen should see some nice ideas.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Around the Network

Stage, could you stop posting 360 bashing ( and hating) posts in normal 360 threads? Every thread you answer in turns into a 360vs ps3 ( so you ruin them). Thank you ;)

A lot of studios want to develop for Kinect (especially the 2.0) people will change their tune about Kinect soon enough... I hope Sony has something incredible to go agains't the next Xbox because bundled with every Xbox Kinect will change a lot of ways you interact with games. Core gamers won't be left out, in fact they'll be the ones craving for its uses...

@ S.T.A.G.E. tech nerds are allo over Kinect for multiple reasons but I see none talking about Move... here people use either Wiimotes and sensor or Kinect when they create gesture based devices.

I said Sonys products tend to attract tech nerds. Its possibly because they are one of the best tech companies (No longer the best, but one of the best). I already know people are experimenting with Kinect, which is why the future of Kinect is so unsure when it comes to actual gaming. I am sure of it in a doctors office, I am sure of it as a scroller in the living room, I am sure of it for business, but gaming? Outside of rails and dancing? Lets hope for the future.

1. Nintendo is proof of reliance on the same IP's, but there is no doubt that the quality is extremely high. Miyamoto must be antsy to make new characters for crying out loud. I hope he does. Nintendo can milk because they have so many characters to milk from that you wont get bored from generation to generation. Sony can bring back old IP's and gain new hot IP's every gen. Its quite amazing really. MS failed with XSN, and the majority of the Xbox first party library save for a couple games in Project Gotham, Fable (which at the time was promising) taking Halo from out of Apples clutches and being dragged out of the water by Bioware. Microsoft isn't like Sony being content with a large library of quality games every gen that sell well. Microsoft mirrored Sony earlier this gen, but I think Microsoft is finding it harder to satisfy core gamers while competing with third parties. Guess what? You're a gaming company......act like it. Everyone knows Microsoft can make money.
