While we're on the subject, I'd like Nintendo to recombine their controller instead of the Wii-Mote Nun-chuck combo.

Yeah... Why doesn't Nintendo release a Classic Controller? It boggles my mind!

There's a Classic Controller for Wii... is black and is almost like a Dualshock... ecept for the D-pad that just hurt my fingers playing fighting games... >.< like the 3DS D-pad so annoying!

I am well aware of the classic controller and the fact that you can sometimes use a Gamecube controller. But it's usualy not an option. Nintendo has been adiment about forcing us to use motion controls. I can't use a classic controller with Skyward Sword or Metroid Prime 3. Even years after the Wii came out I still don't like motion controls as much as a regular controller. Zelda OoT/Twilight Princess and Metroid Prime 1 & 2 worked just fine without motion controls and even though Skyward Sword does motion controls right I'd still prefer a regular controller.

Average.  Of course, there are many who wish to act like its incredibly small, but usually only to promote their console of choice's controller, usually 360 fans.  Of course, they don't realize that the controllers are almost the exact same size.  Like I said, though, I think they could make the handles slightly longer, but it's not a deal breaker.

I don't see much wrong with the Dual Shock 3 as it is now. As with most people, L2/R2 should be either triggers or changed to something else. I think the analog sticks should stay where they are now, but the tops should be concave and the sticks themselves should be a little bit stronger (I've had controllers that have had the sticks get off center after a good while; read that as A LOT of use). I do agree that during intense gaming sessions, that my hands get sweaty and slip a little bit on the grips, so Sony should add some kind of better grips on the DS4.

Play videogames with it, dohoho...I'm sorry.

Better grippage on the analog stick is all I would think is an improvement. Size, shape and configuration of controller is fine. There are plenty of aftermarket controllers that are bogger and have the Xbox configuration for those who really want it different. I'm actually fine with the L2/R2 buttons, but there seems to be a large consensus of opinion against them so I suppose that's another change.

They should include a multi-touch pad on the back of the DS4 with haptic feedback that simulates in-game surface textures.

Here is a bit on the tech:

This would certainly allow for a new dynamics of play.

Though design wise, they may have to sacrifice L2 and L3 to make the number of controller inputs manageable (which would be fine).

Make 2 models. Dualshock 4 which is just a slight upgrade from 3 (kinda like 2-3 was) and Dualshock 4XL that would be a bigger version.

The Dual Shock 4 should take some ques from Nintendo and Microsoft. Swap the d-pad and the left joystick. Give the joysticks concave tops rather than convex. Add real triggers. Replace the four button style d-pad with a real plus + shaped one. Make it a little bigger so it fits adult hands better. Change the shape so it doesn't jab into the palms of your hands.

^this. Pretty much why I only played few great games on PS.

Nintendo screwed everything with DS and Wii imo. The d-pad is weird now and not as smooth as the old one that's been used for .. forever.

Microsoft's controller is alright overall (still a lot like Dreamcast, thanks for that), but not perfect.

If Sony decides to actually copy more than just ideas to merge them with their evergreen DS, they should pick the best things and create something new.
