Forums - Gaming - SOPA blackout: RPS, Gamasutra, SavyGamer go down in protest

What I really want to know is why isn't VGC shut down!?

Should do it like a few other forums where its shut down until a certain number of users pledges to contact their reps and the page shows a link to the EFF to find their reps.

Around the Network

VGC shouldn't shut down but they should have some kind of rallying point displayed clearly on the front page and forums. I'm pretty disappointed that nothing was done about this. I put notices across most of my sites but those will only reach around 5,000 people today. We need the bigger sites to jump on board.

Twitter and Google are communication channels. It doesn't help the cause to shut down sites that allow people to talk about SOPA/PIPA.

Yes, but it would be as affective to shut it down than to let people talk about it, maybe even more.

Doubtful. My Facebook, Twitter, and G+ feeds are abuzz with people sending links on how to contact your representatives, find out where your reps stand on the issues, and other assorted stuff regarding the bills. Without that, many people would probably just go work on something.

Yeah actually makes since, but they should at least have a banner mentioning about it somewhere.

I'm very glad that these sites are helping the cause. When the bill first came out publicly, nobody seemed to give a damn. Now, we have a real, genuine chance to stop this thing once and for all.

I hope all the efforts of the people contacting their representatives and these websites going on blackout aren't in vane. I will keep doing my part, as small as it might be.
