There's nothing to be arrogant about, beating th 360 is really not that big of a deal. It would have been bigger the other way around espacially after 6 years in the market and being driven by just 2 countries. 

What I find funny is the fact it's really almost fact they overshipped last quater if the 66 million number is real, and none of you guys want to admit it. So now we have resorted to Europe where numbers looked to be down anyway. 

2 countries? You really are obsessed, gees I wonder how pathetic you realise your posts are. They ship, sometimes less than 50% they sell in Q in the US, the UK they ship much much less than that. Most Q's they ship/sell 35% - 45% elsewhere besides US and UK, so no, it isn't 2 countries as much as you stress that.

It's nowhere near fact though, likely? at this point yes. It's not just Europe people are looking to though, MS made clear they were striving for better in a number of non European countries this holiday as well with various tactics (price cuts, more advertisments, bundles). It can be overshipped and still have beatne PS3, depending on the the amount it is overshipped, people seemed to have glossed over the fact the PS3 is barely up in the US this Q, barely up in the UK, and flat in Japan. Yet expects to see 700k+ growth in shipments over last year.

Let me guess, a GT5less holiday in Europe was key.

You know, a price cut really does wonders for sales.

Does it? Didn't work in the countries we have data for, not lifting sales anyway. Why would it do the same in Europe, when it should be the toughest place to raise sales year over year given the previous holiday it had GT5?

The same reason 360 is "severely undertracked" there. 

Doesn't need to be severly undertracked there, and what reason would that be?

I expect the Ps3 to be down my friend. They had no big game and the price drop had a very short impact. But Sony always somehow overship thus the reason their q1 is always low. 

The thing you seem hurt by us saying MS sent to much, don't be, they did it in 2008. They had a goal and they made it. MS knows how to do business and they will sell all these consoles anyway. 

But avoid the name calling, it makes you look defensive and way too involve in a company you are not part of. It's 2012, ok.

Moderation on here used to be ridiculoiusly precious and utterly humourless.  We almost got to the point were games and consoles were deemed more important that human beings and their feelings...

I mean... seriously... how can someone be offended by someone else taking a swipe at a game or console?

Of course you would agree with his stance.  I'll just say the people on the other side of the debate will just look to the actual sales data when it is released for each of the regions, and not MS's shipment data.  Besides, VGC already adjusted to MS's announced shipments, only to have to readjust when NPD was released.  I doubt they are going to do the same tomorrow.

Why are the admins of this site being rude and pedantic to people for making decisions based on the information they themselves have provided? Providing accurate information would be the best solution but I suppose professionalism isn't something to be expected here :/

What can definately prove that Microsoft overshipped 360 in the last quarter? The ONLY answer is the shipment figure of 2012 Q1. If the figure is extreme low, it will mean 100% 360 was overshipped between Oct and Dec.

I want to laugh at those who claimed 360 was overshipped without any solid evidence.

Don't forget one thing, in last year Q3, MS only shipped 2.3M 360, so they didn't start to prepare the holiday season in advance. The consequence of this is they needed to ship as many as possible units in the last quarter to meet the retailer's demands. That is why the last quarter shipment looked huge.

However, shipment means sales for Microsoft and at least they can have a beautiful 2011 and had the chance to beat SONY to be the manufacturer who sold the most consoles in the entire year.

Nintendo usually publishes sales trackers numbers for USA, Japan and Western Europe ....
