Say whatever you want, new NPD is absolutely horrible, be for 360, Ps3 or Wii is just awfull awfull awfull those sales.

In 2009 Wii did 3.9M, thats wayyy more than 3 Consoles did together this time, there´s no way to turn it around, even with Price Cut 360 will drop this year alot, as will ps3 or Wii.

NPD just prove that Next Gen is coming this year, i expect a full blow out this E3.

I think we are overreacting to this situation. November was great, a lot of people advanced their purchases. If you add November and December, and compare to last year, it's not that bad at all.

btw last month NPD showed us that we didn't need a next gen soon....and this month shows us that we need one...So what is it?

Why? MS and SONY have their best year ever. I don't see why 2012 will be year for next generation.

Is Nintendo that needs Wii U. Not Sony and MS that need to do anything right now.

These numbers are awful only because we are used to amazing numbers. Video games have grown in sales so much the past few years, it had to slow down eventually.

December 2003 NPD sales for example, even when the economy was doing great:

PS2 - 1.8M

Gamecube - 1.10M

Xbox - 990k



This is so similar to the current three this month - and these numbers were by no means terrible back then.

I think the strong November sales kinda make it even. Greenberg on his twitter said shoppers are buying earlier and earlier each year.

X360 - Nov + Dec Up 180k~
PS2 - Nov + Dec Up 110k~
Wii - Nov + Dec Down 1.7m~

For the year the consoles (HD only) were UP... so why a next gen now???

Calm down guys... just December is down due the AMAZING November... people brought early this year.

Nope, not for MS/Sony I think. The Wii is dropping a lot so for Nintendo yes, 2012 is time for next gen (and funnily enough here comes the Wii U) but for MS/Sony sales aren't too horrible really. Also, they need to consider the global picture - there is a balance between reacting fast to US but reacting too fast globally.

Personally I still think 2012 for another decent 360 year with Halo 4 then nextbox Q3 or Q4 2013.

For Sony I think either Q4 2013 or Q2 2014.
