Well whatever your view all those numbers are really bad across the board!! There were no winners.

What is strange though is again MS say the whole we are top selling console worldwide thing. So i'm guessing chances are they have done better and Sony have done worse in Europe. Either that or they are lying pretty much. But as a company you can't really do that as loads of rules they could get done for i.e trying to falsely influence stock prices with inacurate numbers.

They are the top selling console in US? Did they actually say worldwide?

Yes, worldwide, and going by how badly they overtracked all consoles in the us and how they overtracked ps3 by 80k in france compared to 44k for 360 it is not that hard to argue that vgchartz is overtracking ps3 in europe and undertracking 360 in europe.

There has never been 3 million consoles on shelves so they have to be making it up in europe or other americas.

The numbers in France miss Juanuary-March period for PS3 and 360

I know, the numbers where overtracked for that time period.

PS3 was down over Nov apparantly, X360 flat. Given it's 5 weeks vs 4 weeks, December was actually much worse than November.

why people think it's undertraked in Europe but not MEA,i mean China have 620k 360 when end of 2008

seems like the rumors about ps4 and xbox 720 did hurt the december sales

Or that the economy sucks worse than they thought and once people bought during the after Thanksgiving sales, they stopped buying as opposed to years in the past where they would keep buying.

yeah sure can't say alot about you economy since i don't live in the states. just thought about myself and if i would have liked to get a 360 from my parents 10 years ago with these rumours  i would have said "gimme the money don't need the console" haha

Europe's economy is way worse than the States, so really, its the two major territories for gaming.  People can talk about the Yen being a problem, but for consumers it's great.  It means their money buys more stuff for less.  But from what I heard, people were more apt to buy one big thing and a few little things this year, as in, maybe a 360 for one kid, and an ipod for another, etc... instead of everyone getting a game console or a TV etc.  Cost of living around the world continues to rise, yet wages fall.

I don't know about that. Don't judge the whole of Europe by looking at a few small gaming markets (greece for example)

yeah that's what i replied to him as well. some countries have big problems atm like greece, spain, portugal but some others are growing very fast or have not really a bad economy atm. europes countries aren't like usa with the 52 (or so) states.

just the euro as currency for most of us is a problem to let fear everyone here...

In Japan 3DS sold 1,495 millions

Almost on par with US best selling console of the month^^

" Finally, she notes that "Wii and the PS3 were neck and neck in second place for Annual 2011."

PS3 was 80k ahead of Wii up until Dec, so I think Wi must have sold better to be neck and neck.

Perhaps 1m for Wii (giving it the 4.5m Nintendo stated) and 900k for PS3 (also 4.5m)

You'd almost want to believe NPD screwed up and provided the November report in error, rather than the industry was that far down.

Yeah, puts everything in a different perspective, time for new consoles!

So Wii is at most 860k and PS3 is at most 900k. Wow...

860k is last month... this month is more like a little over 1m for Wii.

But the report said that DS and 3DS were the only consoles to see MoM growth. That puts the Wii at 860k or less.

How did you find that? Is there a tool to select numbers per period?
