Do you have UPnP enabled, both in Utorrent and on your router? Or have you opened a port for utorrent?

I have no idea, could you please talk me through it? And do you any reason why I'd suddenly be having these problems? Because it used to work just fine, no settings have been changed, router and laptop is exactly the same.

Hmm...since you say that, it doesn't look like it's something that can be fixed by changing the port. Did you install an antivirus program recently or reenable a firewall or something? You can try opening a port though, you can find the instructions for it on this site:  http://portforward.com/  . Just look for your router and then pick utorrent and follow the instructions.

Edit: Also, does this just happen with one torrent or all torrents you've tried recently?

No, the laptop I'm downloading it on has no antivirus program running and Utorrent is let through windows firewall. I've tried that site before, doesn't have my router listed :/ (WANADOO-A9E4)

Has happened with all the torrents I've tried recently.

Can you try downloading on another computer on the same network? Isn't it a possibility that your network is being throttled?

I've now tried on 2 laptops, the same. Not sure what you mean by it being throttled, do you mean there are a lot of people using the network so I get limited speeds? If so then that happens a lot, but even at peak hours I get at least 150kb/s on everything, I'm now getting 2 kb/s.

I mean, could your internet provider possibly be limiting your speed? Or is it only utorrent that is affected? I'd try fiddling around with google, utorrent preferences and try restarting your router.

No my speed isn;t being limited, everything else is at normal speed, just streamed a bloody football match a few hours ago lol, takes the piss. I dunno I've been fiddling with everything I possibly can for an hour today and a couple hours a few days ago. I bet that website would of helped, sucks that my router isn't on there.

Hmmm and do you have the latest version of utorrent? If yes, have you tried some other torrent program? If no, try and see if the newest version works. This is a pretty hard case it seems...hmmm

I have the latest version, and I've tried Utorrent which is practically identical. And I've tried Vuze, same for all.

You've stated that you've got a Wanadoo box, so guessing your with Orange. They limit all P2P traffic during peak time so I'm sure they are throttling you (Thet limit mine, I get crap speeds just like your stating from 5pm-11pm ish). You can check here: http://broadband.mpi-sws.org/transparency/bttest.php

Had to update java for that site, did it, didn't work, not in too mood to fix it, even if I was being throttled, it wouldn't go all the way down to 2 kb/s would itAnd everything else is completely normal.

Yes that's the whole point of throttling. Allow normal web traffic to work out a good speed.

You're probably throttled.

EDIT: My guess is also that you've recently moved from an Orange LLU to a BT WBC line.

Have you just ignored my posts?

If you're getting 2kbs you are being throttled, pure and simple. It makes no difference if browsing youtubedownloading through a browser is working fine. The ISP can throttle specific types of traffic and ports, meaning they can make torrents run at 2kbs whilst you watch a HD youtube clip at 2mbits.

I replied earlier, yeah I guess I was being throttled, worked overnight. Thanks for the help! Much appreciated.

So you did, :)

You might be able to get the throttling removed if you call the ISP up and tell them you will cut down usage. I haven't been with an ISP that throttles for a few years as I'm in Sky LLU area so would be silly to not use them. But this happened to me with "Tiscali" and although they're customer support is appalling after calling them up and playing all coy they removed the limit in time for me to get a MAC code and go elsewhere.
