He said the 3DS would do very well initially.

It did not. So no, definitely don't think Vita will do better then 3DS, though this goes against my gut of better technology+same price+better launch software = quicker sales.

Vita SHOULD do better. Uncharted is pretty big here in the west, and it's not coming out a month after UC3, so by all rights Vita should do VERY well, sell a million units in two months. But Pachter says it'll do better then 3DS, so I'm gonna bet against him XD

Huh. I just got a notification that I was quoted in here, but there are no quotes. I'm guessing it was DarkDesent.

Depends on how fast the system gets cracked in the West.

yeh I used to think this.. till I remembered you would have to have a large memory card.. then I remembered the memory card prices.. no thanks

The memoryCard are necesary if you want downloadble games.. if no You can buy retail games and save inthe Gamcerd itself...

If you want downloadble games on 3DS You have to purchase a SD card... YES, they are cheaper... but You have to buy one... If you bougth the "embassador" 3DS You have spent at least 300$ with a class 10 16GB SDCard... + games...

The Vita will be more expensive, YES but still I think You're getting more on the Vita nowaday than in the 3DS at its launch day...

Vita will turn arround if SONY lower the MC prices a little more... or make atractives packs with the consola and a 8Gb MC at least (For WHAT YOU NEEDA 4GB MC?) and eventually Sony will release a 64GB card or may be bigger and will lower the actual prices for sure... Meanwhile i'll get the 16GB + Starter kit..

Where the heck did you get your information?  I got an Ambassador 3DS with the 20 free games.  I also have fifteen Nintendo preview videos, a ton of music, the built in software (Face Raiders, AR Games, etc.) at least 20 virtual console/eShop/DSi Ware games, a ton of pictures, Netflix, and other random stuff--All on an 8GB SD card that came with my Cell Phone (I got a bigger 16GB card in my phone--for about $20!) and I don't even think the 3DS card is half full, yet!!  Don't just make up stuff to prove your point.  It makes you look bad.

Anyway, it seems like Sony wants the Vita to thrive on sales of virtual software--downloadable games and such.  If that's the case, why are they making it so difficult for people to buy from them.  I'm the kind of person that will buy a ton of digital content.  I've got around 80 games from Xbox Live, three memory cards full of content from the PSN (for PSP), a lot of Wii digitial content, a lot of PS3 digital content, and so on.  I like buying downloadable stuff.  Why is Sony making it difficult for someone like me to give them my money?  I want to download games and stuff but their proprietary format (with its high cost) is turning me off.

Well sorry, I was speaking mistakingly... The 3DS come with a 2GB SD, I've confirmed with a friend... he bougth a 16GB SD Class 6 recently a I though i didn´t come with a card...

It's sure that the MC of Vita's are expensive, And I would want them to cut those price even more... But 250$ for the console is very good price... for what the consola pack and what potetially can do...

I don't think anyone have claimed otherwise. The problem is in the "potential".

Regardless of how powerful a machine is, if there's no appealing softwares to take advantage of it, it's just paper weight.

The 3DS went through that for a month or so when I just used my DSiXL instead of the newer 3DS.

But the 3DS was like that 4 or 5 months after release before the price cutting... and the initial software on the vita I think is more appealing than the 3DS launch lineup... but for japanese that is not more than the actual roster of 3DS games that i think is still lacking, Just mario kart and mario Land is not enough for me...

I think that the situation with the Vita is Wait and see the western release.. and then make a better analisis...

Remember, guys, the circumstances AREN'T the same, like Monteblanco said. When 3DS launched, it had no current-gen competitor.

Vita, however, has the cheaper 3DS with an already impressive blockbuster lineup that's rapidly growing.

Yes, Vita has more games at its launch, but are they better? That's arguable. Yes, Vita is the same price the 3DS was at launch, but that's just one SKU, and the other is more expensive.

It certainly could outsell 3DS's first three months, but it's going to have some MASSIVELY difficult times doing so.

I think the West is still going to have a big launch for the Vita, which would still put it in that 3 month window. Not sure if there is anything else on the lineup soon to push the Japanese to pick up more systems though. So basically they are waiting for the Western launch.

Other than launch games, what other games does the Vita have on it? I know that the PSP GO was digital only. Does the Vita have all the games that the Go had already for download? Basically I am asking how many games do gamers have access to right now?

B-b-b-b-but Ryan! Didn't you see where CNET said Vita won't even RELEASE in the West?!?

Anyhow, supposedly, the PSN store for PSP is completely available for PSV owners. I'm not certain if it actually is already, but I know it's supposed to be.
