Japan only, or worldwide launch aligned?

All this speculation. It's far too early to tell if Vita will be successful or not. I wish I could fast forward one year to see how Vita sales turn out longterm. I also wish I could fast forward three years to see the numbers of Nextbox and PS4 first year sales.

I'd say it's pretty obvious that this would be the case

If you're talking equal 3 month period in all regions type thing then yeah, I'd imagine they'll be neck to neck and Vita could just about beat it. PSP launched just as strong the DS, I'd expect Vita to outdo the PSP whereas I think 3DS was a bit behind DS.

So yeah, solid prediction, could go either way but I'd generally agree with ol Pach man here.

Well the vita already out shined the 3DS in the launch week(Talking game wise).

I would agree if not for the fact 3DS released in all other regions 1 month after the japan launch and is 2 months after the japan launch for vita so 3DS will have a month more of sales in NA EU and AUS

You can correct for that in "launch-aligned" that is by combining the first three months of each region to get the total first three months without having to worry about such matters

I think the Vita will beat the 3Ds 2 months after the USA/European release... The Launch lineup is better and larger on West regions and the games are more of the taste of Westerns..

I see the japanese release as some kind early... may be was just a test for the hardware and software...
