This really surprises me.
Tho, I have to wonder exactly how many units were in the "Pre-order" shipment.

I am surprised to read that people are surprised by this. Isn't Vita SUPPOSED to pwn in Japan?

Well hopefully it does, but because of the latest release of monster hunter on the 3ds, I am worried tbh. Only time will tell.
I just hope that Sony puts over 9000M consoles out there day one, so that the Vita sells the numbers it deserves regardless of shipments (flops/sells crazy)
It has everything to sell great, but how many Vitas were shipped? As to the Vita being sold-out in preorders, how many were there to begin with?
Cmon Sony, surprise me, and let them crazy Japanese go crazy on them Vitazzz

It could be a tactic to encourage people to que for PSV on day one as they might be afraid of shortages.

Sony had to have shipped at least 500k since oct, I would be surprised if they shipped any less considering its price and launch line up, not to mention the season. Never understood why they are so afraid to release their numbers. We shall see come 2 weeks I guess. The Vita price is perfect if you ask me.
Hopefully the pre-order shipment was big enough to bring in some impressive numbers.
Strange, I just went into a retailer on my way home today and the Wifi model pre-orders were over for that one store, but they were still taking pre-orders on the 3G version.
