The next gen psp need to have these features

1. 360 level graphics
2. HD 720p screen
3. another analog stick
4. embedded 3.0MP camera
5.improved flash player and interenet browser

6. HDD, with 128mb of ram, and atleast 8GB of Harddrive space.

Last but not least:

8. Smaller than the psp-2000

I hope your being sarcastic with some of those features... :P

I agree with him. I don't expect a new one out until 2010 or so, so those numbers seem good. I don't want it smaller though, as for long gamming sessions, the controls are already too small.

The psp is as small as the DS lite.

Almost 3 years later and some people still don't understand why PSP failed...

I guess i know what you guys mean but 360 level graphics on a handheld... I think the DS has shown that better graphics are not what most people seem to want, they want games! And for handheld games to be made the production costs need to be low...

But we shall see what happens in the coming years :D

my guess is next one will be much more serious competition for Nintendo cuz it will have a touch screen.

So, after third party publishers will be worried about sales of their games you expect them to produce games that are as expensive as an XBox 360/PS3 game? That's not going to have issues ...

Beyond that, on a 3 or 4 inch screen you won't be able to tell the difference between a 480p screen and a 720p screen; the only difference would be the cost being that your 720p screen would cost tens of thousands of dollars ...

Better graphics is what 1/3 of the people seem to want, and I fall into that 1/3.

There is room in this market for more than one handheld. Good thing the car industry doesn't think that this. It would suck to see nothing but Honda Civics on the road.

Alternatively, the PSP2 could be made into a cheap laptop device. It is already good for multimedia playback, and it would be a niche the DS has no foothold in.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

Yes, it's software sales that worry me.

I understand what you guys mean, i also fall into that 3rd as the graphics of the DS is one of the reasons i do not own one, but if there is a PSP 2 i would want there to actually be games on the system, if it had those specs i don't see any dev wanting to risk the dev costs of that magnitude on a handheld...

Also handheld games are meant to be cheaper than home consoles, but with dev costs matching that of the PS3/360 they would have to charge more to make a profit... I just don't think that will happen!
