My dad's Acer 5730z laptop used to run 3D gamestudio's A6 engine perfectly. Then he got a better laptop and handed me this one. So I formatted his hard drive and reinstalled windows 7 (ultimate edition) and have used windows update to make sure that my windows is up to date. Now I had noticed that gamestudio didn't run properly on some laptops but I had never been able to figure out what the missing component was. Now it's happened to my laptop.
The software will install properly and I will be able to call up the model editor, the script editor and the level editor. I can even run the techdemo game that comes with gamestudio. However, after creating a level and clicking the build button, absolutely nothing happens. It doesn't call up the build dialog box. So since I can't build an instance of the level I just created, I can't run the level. I've posted this in gamestudios official forums but haven't gotten a single reply more than a week after posting. It's driving me crazy because it's worked on this computer before.

I also downloaded A8 and it says (assuming my project is called 'game')
Can't open game_a8.c Can't compile game_a8.c Error E3555 - Start up failure ab=ny key to abort This is the 3rd intel graphics card I've installed on my acer since I formatted it. None of them works with gamestudio. I don't know what I had before formatting that I don't have now. I believe my direct X is 10. |
| The opposite has happened on a friend's laptop. Gamestudio didn't build on his laptop then one day, the build function was suddenly working. He doesn't know what he installed that changed that. |
