Also as a game it's a lot better than reviews let you think (it has 68 score in metacritic by rewievers and 82 from users..). It has fantastic story, best of the gen soundtrack and amazing athmosphere. Gameplay is also perfectly tolerable ( I even liked it a lot). Only are where it's a lot of behind competition is graphics as far as tech goes but the art more than makes up for it. It's also dirt cheap. Hidden gem of this gen for me.

edit. Also play the game at least twice. Second playtrough starts from about the middle of the game and gives a lot new cutscenes and perspective as far as story goes. It has also different ending! there is also third and fourth endings but those you can watch from youtube as otherwise the playtrough is same as during the second playtrough.

So, Final Fantasy VI's soundtrack is almost as spectacular. I'll come back with Earthbound and Mother 3 later.

I don't care one bit about meta, critics hated FFXIII but I absolutely LOOOVE it (especially with japanese game I've noticed) ===> metacritic can go do stuff to itself - - - I hate it for scaring me away from some pretty awesome games. No more!

On the bright side, since I ignored those games for so long, they're cheap now like you said... But I'm usually late to the party, nobody to talk with about FFXIII/Nier anymore XP

btw i like to hear game soundtrack radio stations like “nolife radio“ on my smartphone with a radio app. some cool stuff there. just heard a wild arms song wow that was great!
