Forums - Gaming - Do you think FFXV will be announced sometime in 2012?

It will be an FPS this time and outsourced to a Western developer.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

FFXV needs to be Versus XIII !!

Hasn't Square Enix indicated that they wanted the Fabula Nova Crystallis series to expand into some meta-series of its own, even prolonging the series for as much as a decade to develop on its concept or something? At least that's what I remembered I read the last time. So XIII's probably going to stay for a long, long time.

Nah, just means they will make it while making other FF games. That's why there's a FFXIV even though FFXIII series hasn't finished yet.

The fact they haven't announced it is concerning, if they announce it, they should make it a launch title for the next generation just due to time frame overall. What is their Ivalice department working on?

Hmm, pie.

The actual core members are split between a bunch of things (though I wouldn't say there is such a thing as an Ivalice "department"). Minagawa (director of FFXII after Matsuno infamously went "screw you guys, I'm goin' home) is going to be busy for awhile due to working on the bungled FFXIV. Matsuno is over at Level 5 and his boys won't even THINK about touching an Ivalice title unless he's involved and he'll be busy with his game on that compilation title. AS for everyone else, I dunno. Minagawa and Matsuno are the only MAJOR players needed end even then Matsuno is by far the more crucial of them(though Yoshida and Sakimoto would probably go for the ride). Point is, the Ivalice guys probably won't be doing another FF for awhile, if ever, especially considering FFXII's sour dev cycle.

There is Final Fantasy Type-0

So its safe to assume there is going to be;

Final Fantasy Type-2

Square Enix has said they want to make Final Fantasy an annual series.

2009: FF XIII
2010: FF XIV
2011: FF XIII-2
2012: FF Versus XIII
2013: FF XV

Ivalice team is most likely intact but just multi-tasking right now. They are helping make other games that are due out before FFXV and also games that have had development promblems (FFXIV).

People also need to remember that Hiiroyuki Ito, who was the game designer of FFT and FFXII, is still at Square Enix but hasn't worked on a game since 2007. FFXV is probably already in development right now.
