Forums - Microsoft - A Look at the New Xbox 360 Dashboard Update

GameInformer

Microsoft is not afraid to shake things up when it comes to the Xbox 360's user interface. An update brings a fresh look to your 360 this Tuesday, bringing big changes to the way you navigate the console. This video tour by Gamesradar highlights the big changes to the UI. The biggest differences I can notice include the menu layout, achievement score organization, the bing search function, and cloud saving. While being able to search for anything available on the 360 by entering a single word is neat for finding games quickly, I'm more interested in the cloud save functionality. I'm someone who routinely loads my 360 profile onto a USB to bring to a friend's house, then 99 percent of the time forgets it and has to spend time recovering the stupid thing when I get home (if I can remember my blasted Windows Live ID). This cloud save option allows you to toss your profile into the ether for easy access on any friend's 360 with an internet connection.

The new dash looks amazing. Just like my Phone. :)

Really waited for this. Kinect is gonna stretch its legs alot now in terms of dashboard use.

Also I use Bing like 2nd nature now. Bing on my phone, internet and now 360. Its a great engine and doesnt bring up unecessary BS like Google does.

Cant wit for tomorrow.

And a proper YOUTUBE APP. Not a fumbling IE page on 360.

Cant wait.

Youtube with Kinect will be so cool.

To bad YouTube doesn't come out with the dashboard update. Only Today and Epix here in the United States. almost everything else is coming out later December or early 2012.

Been using it for a while now, not that I use the dashboard much anyway (usually just install, play game, maybe tidy up my hard drive, occassionally use the store to get a specific piece of content, and that's about it). So I can't comment on functionality since it's irrelevant to me, but I do like the new look - sleeker and more modern.

This. And I want Youtube.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

But doesn't it say Dec. 6 for YT in the OP of your thread about the dashboard?

I've been using it a while and I like it. I actually haven't messed with the Kinect motion stuff but the voice stuff is great. I really like the favorites part since it lets me quickly get to Netflix.

I'm *really* excited to see what the FiOS TV app is like. If I can get rid of my DVR I'll be beyond happy.

I've been using it for a while now and I love it. Everything is much more easily accessible and it looks much better.

Uh wait a second, when did the Xbox truly turn into a full on multimedia device? Internet? YouTube? Apps? What are newfangled contraptions?

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Obligatory dick measuring Gaming Laptop Specs: Sager NP8270-GTX: 17.3" FULL HD (1920X1080) LED Matte LC, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M, Intel Core i7-4700MQ, 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3, 750GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive

It's live. It's been live for hours where I live--I found out about it around 6pm (it's 11:30pm, now). Strange that nobody has made a thread!

Anyway, I have two Xbox 360's. I did the update on one and everything went well. Now, when I try to log into the Xbox in my game room, it won't let me. That totally sucks! I'm updating my 3DS right now (today is a big day for updates--I did the PS3 4.00 update today, too!) and when that's done, I'll fire up the 360 again. I haven't even given the new dash a test drive! My mom and sisters were over and I couldn't get into it. All I know is that Kinect works very well. It seems more responsive than ever!
