I think I am seeing what Prof and Vette are trying to say. What if the investigator thinks that a certain person is scum and he wants him to be investigated and we chose another person to be investigated he will be forced to investigate that certain person. What if that certain turns out to be a town and the person he wants to investigated turns out to be a scum so just like I said from the 2nd paragraph we shouldn't take that away from the investigator.

Anyways FoS on metalgear for even suggesting that we should make our vote public.

Why the hell do people always forget to close their bolds. I personally think it is quite stupid to reveal who you will vote for. Not only does it give mafia info they don't need, but who is to say everybody will vote for who they say? It will simply be a tool by the mafia to make somebody investigated they want investigated.

Secondly, nomy point is not about who we should cop. It is distinctly whether we should discuss.
i gave what i considered the pros and cons of discussion.

I also said lets figure out how to bring this situation toward town as much as possible.
If you think that wifom between mafia and doc is the best answer, then that is your contribution to the discission, not the number one solution.

It is a good idea that is dependent on having a doc, and several other factors like mafia only having a vote to influence with.

You assume a lot of things in your argument.

Now ne a good llama and prove to me that there are other reasons for your vote.

How do you propose we should arrange a tie investigation vote if the mafia might get votes? 

If NOBODY votes, then it would be tied at 0.  But if the investigator was forced to investigate, only he would know.  So we take a risk of giving all the investigations to mafia, or some random jerk ruining the plan, by trying to give them to the cop. 

And seriously, I don't know why you all hate the idea of trying to choose the investigation target collectively, as opposed to leaving all the power in one player's hands, for good OR ILL.  It's not guaranteed the cop is a genius experienced player, he could be spurgeonryan for all we know.

How do you figure public votes give the mafia any more power to control the investigation than they already have?  Do you know they don't have votes, and can only rely on their ability to persuade townies with votes? 

As for people lying about their vote, that would be annoying but I don't ultimately think it matters since their mid was obviously made up to vote for whoever.  The only real difference it would make is to screw up attempts to engineer a tie vote.  The on-purpose tie idea is a good one but ultimately too unreliable to be worth the effort IMO (since mafia or just a random jerk could easily mess it up). 

As for giving the mafia information, I suppose announcing your investigation preference does betray something about your thoughts, but you'd have to convince me it's worth torpedoing the public vote, which I'm actually starting to like. 

Remember though, it's strictly on a volunteer basis per the rules, and please let us know Stefl if we're getting anywhere near incurring penalties for gaming your system.
