Someone from gamefaqs e-mailed Sony and a rep confirmed that they haven't yet set the prices for NA.

Well there you go.

so the price is confirmed but not confirmed? reading small text is a bitch and a half. not sure what else to say about this.

To be honest its not going to change that much... The Japan prices have pretty much confirmed that its going to be pretty overpriced anyway.

okay, i read it in full now. the response doesn't really say anything other then they don't have any pricing information available. so it doesn't really confirm anything. just means the same as before, gamestop is pricing it by either A) knowing something we don't or B) pricing high so they can list the product and not have to raise the price one official prices are released.

Those options are the same of what I'm thinking. Sony has too much momentum on their side for Vita, but history does tend to repeat itself. Sony and high prices/proprietary medium have a long and storied past together.

People buy overpriced products the world over, nothing new here. If people can't afford the 4GB, they shouldn't be getting the VITA in the first place. Maybe this is Sony's way of cutting their losses? Overprice the pheripherals, but competatively price the VITA. Im sure the pirates will find away around it anyway.

LAUNCH Vita games average from 2GB to 4 GB.  Future games have the capacity to hit 16GB.  Why can't sony just use Microsd cards like almost every other mobile device out there?  Oh wait, they're greedy and have to make a cent off others buying their cruddy memory standards.   Seriously, even if the prices are 10-20 dollars less they are still more expensive price/memory ratio than SDXC and SOLID STATE DRIVES.  Serously, no excuse for this.  They should be priced around the same as other memory formats.  I will just wait till the device gets cracked so I can run my homebrew stuff on it and probably on a microsd card too.  I'm sure this device can emulate the N64 quite nicely as it has more memory than the original Xbox, on top of that it is portable.   Just because you can afford it, doesn't mean you should have to pay it.

vita may end up like gamegear
