- Ratchet and Clank: Up your Arsenal
- Metal Gear Solid 1/2/3
- Timesplitters 2
- Need For Speed 2: Hot Pursuit (amazing racing game, rivals the GT series)
- Medal of Honor: Frontline (best medal of honor game IMO)
- Socom 1/2 US navy seals
- Soul Calibur 3
- Mercenaries
- Star Wars: Battlefront 1/2
- James Bond: Agent Under Fire and/or Nightfire
- Grand Theft Auto 3/Vice City/San Andreas
- Aliens Vs. Predators: Extinction (I loved this game)
- No One Lives Forever (great game)

Those titles should get you going for a while!

I am not going to recommend any games as the other posters have pretty much covered the must have games.

I am just curious as to what made you purchase a PS3. The PS2 was an awesome console, and up until recently the most compelling reason to purchase a PS3 was because of the Playstation brand name that was built up by the sucessful PS and PS2 consoles. However since you didn't have that type of brand loyalty in the past to Sony I am curious as to what was the driving factor in purchasing a PS3.

Since your asking for recommendations on which PS2 games to purchase, this leads me to believe that you are not a big fan of the GT, MGS, FF, GOW franchises. If you were you would have most likely had a PS2 already and at least played them before. These franchises are most often cited as to why sales for the PS3 will start to trend higher and are often cited as reasons as to why the Playstation line of products is the best console. However again this doesn't apply to you.

lol everyone here is recommending God of War. Am I the only guy whose owned a PSone and PS2 and has never played either God of War game?? or are there other guys like me who haven't played God of War?

I'd recommend going to gamerankings.com or metacritic.com and searching by genres you like.

I can't recommend Final Fantasy X enough. Final Fantasy XII was really good too.
