UPDATE: There's also this tweet in regard to the Army of 2/3 debate. Hmm indeed.

Super-spy Supernnuation has dug up a whole lot more secret treasure recently, and claims that Dante's Infernoand Army of Two will be coming back for seconds. Or (despite our slightly clumsy title) in Army of Two's case, thirds. Army of 2.3? Wait, we're confused...

Superannuation has done what he does best, and sleuthed his way to a juicy conclusion. The long and short of it;

For those who don't like subtlety or the clicking of links: A Dante's Inferno sequel was/is in development, despite EA's claims to contrary.

That seems to be a reference to these two links: the first of which is someone working as the 'Sole writer for an unannounced new AAA game', while the other is a Joystiq article entitled 'Visceral Games' Zach Mumbach on Visceral's development culture, autonomy within EA' that seems to strongly hint the idea of a Dante sequel. There's also a whiff here, reading "Joshua was the sole writer for a Major Unannounced Sequel from Visceral … Games". Visceral previously denied any plans for a Dante 2. As 'The Super' (we're on first name terms) notes himself:

Assuming it wasn't cancelled, I suppose a VGA reveal for that is entirely possible, given that the first game was revealed there.

True that. It was a unique little IP, and it's hard to imagine EA leaving something like that on a cold, Spartan mountainside to die.

However, there also seems to be another tweet thrown in:

And EALA is/was working on a new Army of Two game, as was rumored yesterday.

Oh. Alright then. This claim is in connection with this resume, which has the teasing little snippet "Site Leader for EALA (Danger Close Games/ Army of Two and Victory Studios)".

Do you think there's any truth in these reports? Would you yearn to see Dante return, or are you not too interested in a game featuring casual boob and devil babies? Ha! As if.

The Ao2 game better be good if it's true. I'm surprised EA would even want to support a third game in the series...

I hope it's true just for Dante's inferno alone. I like that game. XD

Anyway, is Ao2 a bad game because I am planning on playing it?

They're not bad games per se, they're just uninspired. There really isn't much original thinking in them, it's just EA's Gears-is-doing-great-let's-copy-it series. If you have a 360, just get a Gears of War game, and if you don't, then try to find Ao2 for cheap.

Dante's inferno i have yet to beat but i'd love to see a sequel. the first Ao2 was fare. i over played it but the second one sucked ass Ao2 and the ip doesn't sale well so in some respects there's no point in making a sequel for a dead ip.

Oh I see thanks.  Well, I don't have a 360 (I have been wanting to play Gears and Alan wake) so the other option is my take and I think I am gonna buy it used.

I liked Dante's Inferno, although it did share some similarities to God of War. I wouldn't mind seeing a second game for that one.
