Forums - Microsoft Discussion - In 2002, did we know the next Xbox was coming out in 2005?

I was just reading some old news about Xbox Live, and I came across an article on CNET.

In the article, the author says "Microsoft's most optimistic projections call for 10 million subscribers by the time a new version of the Xbox is introduced around 2005." First of all, the projection was over 2 years off. Second, I didn't know that we knew the release date of the next Xbox way back in 2002. Was this just speculation or was it actually known?

no not until MS got themselves into a bad deal did we know the xbox was screwed

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B
