Forums - Gaming Discussion - Wii U vs PS4 vs Xbox One FULL SPECS (January 24, 2014)

Just so were clear,

As far as a PS4 is concerned, for a holiday 2013 release.......it's about too late.

PS4 = holiday 2014......and even that's not guaranteed.....But no sooner than 2014

Now this is more like it. GOOD JOB!!!

@the new xbox specs release. Those are not really new. That stuff came out a while back and even then nearly everyone thought of it as fake. While it may use 8GB or ram, its tied to a report that has Intel and Nvidia chips and that is 100% opposite of every other report and does not allow any backwards compatability again unless it also still has xbox360 parts too. I'm choosing to not put that rumor in here just as I removed the 79xx GPU for PS4 rumor. They just don't make logical sense.

@PS4 release date.... sorry man. Its coming in 2013.

Ok, the 8 GB Next X rumor is partially true. It's a dev kit, as GoogleYourself noted it probably was, and as such they do tend to have about double the RAM of the actual consumer model. It has been confirmed that it was a true "Durango" dev kit being put up for sale (moron).

But we don't know if the 4 GB consumer model will be available for all gaming functions or if a large portion is being held for Kinect 2 and/or the OS.

As for Wii U, we still don't know exactly how much RAM it has.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

Exactly.

Point is, this rumor adds nothing. 4GB is still the most logical rumor in the commercial model.

So far we're still looking at 4GB for neXtBox and PS4 and then 2GB for WiiU. It may change, but for now those rumors are the strongest and make the most sense.

I didn't read the thread, but, if the xbox would double as a PC with windows 8, I'd like to have one. First time I'd ever been interested in a console that wasn't sega, nor sony...

Still, I wouldn't get 1st edition of ps4, or xbox because with my luck, I'd have lemons.. I'd give it at least a year. Glad I don't have a vita now, with all the overheating issues... Waiting is good, and it doesn't kill the bank.

Really?

So then when are Sony going to announce it?

GAMESCOM?  That's in 2  weeks.

No?

Oh...so then you must think TGS 2012 in 6 weeks then.

If not, then it's over, superchunk, and you would be wrong........again

Of course, on this subject,  I'd reckon you might be used to being wrong.

While it will surely run win8 (probably the RT  or mobile version), I doubt it will be full PC. More likely just media focused, apps, and cloud stuff. But with a bluetooth keyboard, I don't see why it couldnt' do just about everything else too. However, that's just speculation as nothing is confirmed yet.

I've been wrong FAR LESS than I've been right, however its certainly possible it gets pushed into 2014, but HIGHLY unlikely.

1) Sony and MS consider Nintendo a huge competitor... even if many fanboys like to pretend otherwise. They won't let Nintendo have more than a year head-start.
2) Sony specifically stated they won't let MS get a head-start.
3) MS had rumors last November that their device might be ready for 2012 Xmas launch. Obviously that was pushed back (or maybe never more than a rumor) as they were comfortable Sony wasn't doing anything that soon and Nintendo could have a lead as SmartGlass could keep them competitive.
4) There are rumors showing games and/or development for PS4 are already in place.

I am not sure when it will be announced, but there is a logical reason to keep it quiet for as long as possible so it won't detract from PS3 sales or Vita buzz. Originally I was thinking MSony would want to steal some of Nintendo's thunder and announce their consoles in some form at E3. That didn't' happen, so now its just a matter of how much info they want to give and when.

Vita's coming out party (on January 27, 2011) was less than a year before it launched (on December 17, 2011). It was announced during a private Sony event not tied to any game conference. It certainly possible and likely Sony will copy that approach and have a stand-alone event just after Jan2013 in order to not hamper xmas sales of PS3. With E3 being in June, I expect initial dialogue to start before that.

However, I am 99% confident in a 2013 release date for neXtBox and PS4.

1) How so? MS's statement that "The WiiU is just an XBox360" not long ago doesn't sound like fear.

2) Nope. They stated not to be behind MS a whole year or more again.

4) Wow.. who would've guessed that... Software development for any new console start AT LEAST 2 years before release.

Fact is that AMD is significantly behind schedule for their next gen 28nm hardware and probably decisively behind the PS4 schedule planned in 2008/9 when Sony as sweet-talked into switching to AMD/ATI. This schedule mess is probably the source of all "Jaguar" rumours floating around (a shitty processor that isn't even as fast as the current cell processor), because the "real stuff" promised for PS4 just isn't ready for 2013.
