Chunky: Do you really believe that WiiU will be ore powerful than NextBox?? All the rumors I see seem to say other wise...

Looks like he is thinking the opposite.  With MS being the most powerful followed by Wii U then the PS4.  Will be interesting to see.  I still think that the PS4 will launch the latest but have less power than the nextbox, as Sony simply can't affording another loss-leading console, while being a little more powerful than the Wii U due to the diference in launch dates.

So Xbox will be the most powerfull... if the differences are as big as Xbox 1 >>> Ps2 than some gamers will be crying all over the places.

i mean they are already crying by 360 get allways the better multi games, let alone if Durango is that much more powerfull.

Oh, I miss read it then! But I can't possibly see how PS4 will be weaker than WiiU... Really??

Yep.

Some of the variation of PS4 could put it weaker than Wii U. I think Wii U's rumor has come close to its final kit with the 6000 series GPU. I do think Sony really planned on APU initially, but that may change if they think MS is going to be very high end. I don't think MS will and we'll see a case where MS is more powerful than both, but PS4/WiiU are very comparable. In the end, it shouldn't matter as features and content (at least 3rd party) will all be pretty much the same.

If PS4 and WiiU are comparable I'll be happy :D 3rd party won't skip 2 systems!!

The best use of an asymmetric dual GPU set up is to offload A.I. and physics to the weaker GPU. In this case, the APU which would actually work pretty well. But I'm not too sure how the game engines not written to specifically take advantage of the asymmetrical set up will handle things.

Updated the GPU info...

How likely do you think Sony would be to have the APU plus the additional 7000 series card? I'm thinking its unlikely due to heat and costs.

It's possible but I'd imagine they might drop some clocks to keep cooling under control.

It shouldn't really be that hard to believe.  The Wii is an abberation.  The N64 was more powerful than the PS1 and the Gamecube more powerful than the PS2.  Furthermore, Sony took a pretty big financial hit by releasing an incredibly powerful console this generation, so they may want to scale things back.

I liek how Xbox 720's ram doubles Ps4 and quadruples WiiU

Nice...

Yay!!!

What are you reading?

Wii has rumored in OP of 1.5gb to 2gb. 720 has 2gb and PS4 has 1Gb.

Then in the 2nd post where I clarify stuff, I state that they are all rumored 1 to 2gb and likely to be about the same. Probably all around 2GB total memory.

Only Wii U's rumors are really close to final. Expect others to change as time moves on. Hopefully E3 will shed some light.

For PS4 only VRAM of 1GB is rumored (because the HD 6670 typically uses 1GB), but of course also the GPU and CPU in the APU need Ram. I'd be surprised if PS4 or Xbox 720 have less than 3GB of total Ram.

And regarding the heat and price of cards:
HD 6770                               :   Furmark:  ~100W   Price: ~80€
HD 6670 (GDDR5-version):   Furmark:  ~ 75W    Price: ~55€
HD 6550D                            :   Furmark:  ~ 55W*  Price: ~35€/50€**

*only GPU-part power consumption; but I couldn't really find good reviews which only measured GPU-power usage in furmark so this value is an educated guess based on a high number of different tests and reviews; might be off by 10-15W

**The A8-3870 costs around 95€, but also the CPU-Part is included in that price! Similar performing AMD-CPUs without a GPU cost ~75€ so you only have to pay an additional 20€. But as the GPU in the APU needs additional Ram you will have to pay around 15$/€ for that (if you want 1GB of GDDR5). So all in all you have to pay around 35€ for the GPU in the APU.
Similar performing Intel-CPUs cost ~60€ so if you use that you get a total cost of 50€ for the additional GPU-performance (but I have no idea if Sony likes Intel and using Intel-CPUs is even an option for them).

I used prices as they are in Germany as of today. To get US-prices in dollars you will have to multiply the numbers by 1.1-1.2 .

In my opinion there's at least no problem with the price. PS4 will probably be priced higher at release than the Wii U will be and the additional cost of around 20€ for the GPUs will be no problem. But I still doubt that Sony is using such a configuration (both GPUs are a little too weak imho; perhaps they are using a really customized design of both and hence the real numbers will be totally different).

The APU of AMD can drain a lot of power, but that is primarily because of the CPU part. But as the CPU part in most cases can be undervolted quite a bit this can lead to much less power consumption if you pick the right dies. Still heat may be a problem (but the cell-CPU in the PS3 also had a high TDP).
