Well...as expected. The Wii U will be obsolete by Christmas. Same exact problem that the Wii had.

Benefits are for digitial vs retail overall. 1) No need to ever change a disc. Turn on, pick game, play. 2) Quicker in-game transitions as HDD is faster than BR drive. That's pretty much it AFAIK. You don't gain the obvious digital benefit of not having to store the disc/case as you'll want that for back-up or reinstall, when needed. |
But isn't there a ton of hazards of having a digital copy? Isn't it kinda like renting the game or something like that?
I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!
Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

How about DEAL WITH IT? You can bet that in the next 10 years video game physical media will be phased out the same way all media has been. CDs are phased out, DVDs are mostly phased out, and everything before CDs. I welcome a day when we don't have to drive to the GAMESTOP to get our games. The entire concept of a disc is so archaic AND fragile.

Umm no. The difference between Wii and PS360 was A LOT wider than that of Wii U to PS4/neXtBox. However, that doesn't mean it won't eventually get ignored largely by 3rd parties for wholly different reasons.

Hey I'm a proponent of digital over retail. I just don't like losing the used games market.

Negatives are losing the ability to borrow, take games to friends houses, and of course all used game market.

hmmm ok... I thought I heard elsewhere there were other less beneficial terms to digital sales...

In those negatives you can derive the idea that you don't own the actual game. So this would mean you'd never see 30 year old games on Ebay.
Hoping they bump those drive speeds up before release for PS4
