The bandwidth for wiiu and ps4 iarewrong, its 12.8gb and 176gb for ps4.

Yeah bluefalcon just mentioned I may have the PS4 wrong... but where did you see WiiU? I thought I double checked it to ensure it was correct.

EDIT: ok found it... the gaf summaries must of changed from when I first added those values a few weeks back or I just goofed. meh. Fixed now.

don't mean to be nit picky but its 12.8 not 12.5 on wii u, so people can know the chart is 100% accurate :)

The Wii U's GPU have 320 shaders units... so 352 GFLOPS... not 320 GFLOPS.

I went back to the gaf thread... its OP states 12.5. Since that has a far longer history and debated by people better than you or I, I was going to go with it.

EDIT: what does the B3D thread state? link?

Thanks. Had it right in 2nd post but wrong in first.

It seems both the NextBox and the PS4 are both underpowered for what the designers of Unreal Engine wanted. I remember them wanting 2.5 Tflops and neither one has crossed even the 2 barrier at this point. What I am referring too was from the Samararian Demo in 2011.

Pretty much. Both consoles are well below expectations wrt to UE4. To hit 2.5 Tflops, they would have needed to use a 1Ghz HD7870. That card uses 115W in gaming. http://tpucdn.com/reviews/VTX3D/Radeon_HD_7870_XT_Black/images/power_peak.gif

My guess is both MS and Sony are being extremely cheap this generation. Launch PS4 used 240W of power. So 115W of power consumption for the GPU cannot be the reason they aren't going with a desktop HD7870. My guess is MS and Sony will try to stand out with other gimmicks like multi-touch on DualShock 4 or Kinect 2.0 instead of spending more $ on the GPUs.

They made a mistake when they listed the specs. It's 4x 256MB chips clocked at DDR3-1600mhz, with each delivering 16-bit bus width for a total of 4 chips x16-bit each = 64-bit. 1600mhz x 64-bit / 8 bits per byte = 12.8 GB/sec.

math... it does wonders.

So say this is all correct is the gap between WiiU and PS4/720 smaller or larger than the gap between Wii and PS3/360?

and just for confirmation neogaf states 12.8 http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=500362

Don't tell that to MS. Supposedly they are going to shove cell phone style contracts with Xbox 720, which would make the console cost more over the 2-year contract period than buying it upfront. The did the same thing with the $99 Xbox 360 and I can't believe people actually fell for it....

$99 + $15 / month x 24 months = $459 vs. buying the same console for $299 upfront and paying $50x2 for 2 years of Xbox Live = $399.

Considering if you look hard enough you can find Xbox Live 1-year for $33-35, it's even worse!
