consoles don't need so much ram like a pc needs that's why the ram always sounds to low but i really don't know if 2gb will be enough in the year 2017 or so when we will still play with that xbox.

i don't want a xbox with 16gb ram i just said the specs aren't so impressive like the guy i was replying to said (i thought it was you i was wrong yeah). sure they are great but after the ps3 and 360 realeases with the nice specs for 2005/06 i didn't expect lower specs then the rumor says did you? |
you really think PowerPC 3x3.2 CPU(Xenon) is better than Pentium D/dual core intel CPU?
yeah right RAM seems need to be 4GB+,but CPU/GPU already looks good to next box
First let me say that I don´t believe in this rumour, based upon the fact that there is no way Microsoft/Sony will release a machine with 2gb of RAM by early 2013 (and will probably last until 2018), no way.
This would be a nice machine, but for me, what these specs show is that consoles are starting to hit a wall when it comes to price/top hardware available. Let´s assume these are real xbox 720 specs, and the machine comes out early to mid 2013, do you consider these monster specs???
Abolutely not, and the main reason is price. Both Sony/Microsoft next generation consoles will be, more then any other generation, very limited by price. If they want to put a monster console out they will have a 1000 dolar machine.
I am starting to think that the first company to make a 250 dolar machine at launch, with low development costs (lower game prices), and 3 years later releasing an upgraded console for the same 250 will win big, because the majority of the consumer nowadays can´t spend the amount of money they would a couple of years ago, when it was actualy cheaper to game.
It is funny, because we want these next consoles to have all kinds of crazy specs, but, we also want to aford the damm console, I think we will see Nintendo and Microsoft going restrict (rational) on price, and Sony going BIG as they did with the PS3, but this time, they will focus on showing, right from the start that the console is actually "better".
The PS3 didn´t show to the consumers, in it´s first year, that it was a better console then the 360, so the consumer naturally didn´t buy the console. I think that the Vita shows that Sony still thinks that having the best hardware is the best selling point.
The true question is, will people buy a 600 dolar machine, even if it proves right away that it is the "better" console, what is the limit consumer will pay for the "better" product?

i dont agree with what you are saying but as for the bolded
i will NEVER pay more than $400 for a gaming system
i will just simply wait for the price to come down if the system is priced higher than that

don't know maybe not better but even. all specs seem to be not very different. xbox had one more processor with higher clock speed (best itel model had 3.2ghz as well) L2 cache was greater in core duo (which came out 2006) L1 cache seems to be even.
maybe one or the other processor was better but do you think the rumor specs are better compared to what pc's will have 2012/13 than the 360 specs compared to pc's of 2005? i think they will be worse or in best case as good as 360 was for the year 2005
so if microsoft would sell the next xbox for $399 like they sold the 360 then they won't lose the same amount of money because i think the 360 was more expensive for them then. so i think the price won't be higher than $399 which wouldn't be so much. we shouldn't forget inflation. we earn much more money then but we wouldn't have to pay more for a console and i still now everyone will complain about the price then.
it'S the same with games we earn 100% more money than we did 20 years ago but we still won't pay 70 for a game next gen which would be only a small increase to prices 10 years ago
well with the NexBox and WIIU rumoured specs does anybody think that atleast 1 of them can run something that looks like crysis?
just put it on 1080p and look at the damn leafes
GTA 4 at maxed graphics on pc(i think)

I'm no tech guru, but optimisation is key for consoles. I think Wii U will be able to get close to that and NextBox and PS4 will surpass it by mid to late gen with whatever tech they will be putting out even though I don't think either will go bleeding edge and lose millions.
Edit: I don't know about that GTA 4 enhancer thing though. Pretty damn good graphics for open world. We will see.
| Crystalchild said: @Xbox: it is rumored that this thing has 2GB Ram? Isnt that a bit low? Sure, the OS will consume far less than Windows (for example) since we're talking Console here, but i think one of the most important aspects of the next gen will be highly detailed textures, and those will cost a lot of memory. |
We still ignore if those 2GB are the total RAM or only the system RAM, with the GPU having their own amount of memory (maybe another 2GB like current AMD cards).
But even then, PC game reviews have shown that 1GB is enough at 1080p.

Dual GPU setup is possible if it's the 7000 series since it'd be 28nm process which takes less power for performance.

Forget the 7xxx series. It's too new (aka expensive) to use it now.
Also, the rumor says "Single Die Dual Core", meaning 2 GPUs in 1 chip unlike the usual dual GPU cards. If they are having troubles with the 28nm process, imagine the nightmare that would be if you add a whole new kind of chip featuring 2 GPUs together.
Madness!
