Forums - Microsoft - New Xbox With Six-Core CPU and “Dual-GPU” From AMD (Rumor Analysis)

Rumors, but i'll comment anyway:

Do:
Bump RAM up to 4GB. (4 GB will be more than enough for a console, i should imagine)

Don't:
Remove the 100mb eDRAM!

As for CPU: HEX core, running at that clockspeed, will be sufficient i would say,
not entirely sure what they'll do for the GPU, i have a hard time imagining, that will be the final layout for the actual release console.

Also interesting to contemplate, will they pull a 360S in the future, and try & combine the GPU and CPU on the same board/die, it did work rather well for them with the 360.

@OP: First the attacks to Italy, now THIS!!! The French will stop at nothing to distract the markets attention from the disasters their banks are facing due to their indigestion of tens billion Euros in Greek junk bonds!!!

To people going on about 2 GB RAM being to low and MS needing to 'future proof' the console with 4 GB or more, do you know how consoles work?

Not that I'll care too much lol, as long as nothing like the RRoD happens ever again I'll be fine with anything.

CPU : IBM Power 710

- Architecture : IBM POWER7

- Cores : 6 Core

- Clockspeed : 3.72 GHz

GPU : Custom AMD Radeon HD Graphics

- Configuration : Single Die Dual Core

- Clockspeed : 750MHz

- Daughter Die : Renesas Electronics 100MB eDRAM

RAM : 2GB 512-Bit GDDR5 256GB/s (Unified Memory Architecture)

Interesting. Some days ago there were other rumors (with their own thread) saying that the nextbox will use a " 'main' processor with multiple dedicated assistive cores for graphics, AI, physics, sound, networking, encryption and sensors based on the ARM architecture". So who is right?

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

Wow, 100mb eDRAM is RIDICULOUS!

If they use eDram it will probably be 32~64mb(if they really exaggerate here).

However...well, more = better...

EDIT: That site is a JOKE!

Sega Still Shooting For A $299.99 Launch Price Point

Even whilst using the revolutionary and no doubt costly PowerVR RTX, Sega is still targeting a $299.99 launch price point for it’s next generation home video entertainment platform.

Latest news suggests that SEGA SAMMY is willing to take a hit per unit sold in order to build a commanding lead before the arrival of Microsoft’s XBox 720 and Sony’s PlayStation 4.

Both systems are expected to struggle against Sega’s as of yet unnamed console, as they shall lack the necessary on board circuitry for real-time ray tracing. If Sega also undercut’s them on price, then Sega may find themselves with a market monopoly.

yes i know how a console works and i still know that some games could need more than 2gb in the future. not only i say this crytek for example said the same half an year ago. tiago sousa said he hopes for minimum 8gb ram because that is the main reason consoles don't have better graphics not the graphic card.

dice said something like that as well.

ok 8gb minimum would be maybe way to expensive but if a developer says he hopes for minimum 8g i think 2gb won't be enough. 4gb should be the aim i think.

and with such monster specs...

how much you guys think it will sell at...?

i don't think this are monster specs. and you shouldn't forget it won't realease now. in one ore two years theses specs are very normal. look at the xbox 360 specs and compare them with pc's at that time. that was a way bigger monster i think.

you know, when Xbox release,my PC already using 256mb ram

i think some people thinking too much
