Forums - Gaming - Gaming addiction destroying my brothers life and tearing the family apart.

Your Brother needs his ass kicked, all games removed and escorted to school everyday. One thing I was seriously taught was not to steal, just taking cookies without permission would be enough for physical punishment.

Your parents are destroying him, kids will only do what you allow them too. If that was my brother I would kick his ass myself.

Physical abuse towards a child is fucking disgusting and it doesn't solve anything, it actually makes matters worse.

Gaming addiction or isn't cronic fatigue the problem in this case?

He did a lot of activities but had to stop them because of his sickness... if he didn't got that sickness he wouldn't probably be at home right now?

Did he went to an psychiater? At that age he must be going through a horrible time...Have to quit things you enjoy, are you sure that he just not play whole day to forget real life? Forget the saddness? Going to school where their are people who will laugh with him while at the same thinking that school doesn't mean a thing because with his sickness finding a job will extreme hard and that is probably the reason why your parents let him do. I understand their view because who wants to send his child in this condition to a school...but ofcourse it is also wrong. I would send him to an psychiater because I would not be surprised your brother is hurt.

Hope it gets better in the future because someone should tell him that sitting at home playing video games will for sure not cure the cronic fatigue and oh he can't have class at home? (Well following class with a laptop).

He has tried going to a psychologist but to no avail. He started refusing to go after his second session saying that the psychologist was "a fucking idiot". He may be sick, but how can allways staying up late and playing games help. If I try playing games for 7 hours straight my brain gets fried! So I can only imagine what it is like for his mind with chronic fatigue.

That is rough, I am sorry to hear that. Perhaps you could try to help him get back into other hobbies. Try playing soccer with him, maybe he could get into a summer league or something. He is almost old enough to get a job so that could give him some other responsibility to do. For one your mom can't be so lenient, she has to set limits.

He pretty much needs to find other interests so try to find something else for him to get into.

and they still buy him games and give him money huh, I think your parents need help first before anything can be done for your brother.

ever since he stopped playing sport, whenever i ask him if he wants to go throw the football or play somebsketball he just says, no i dont like sports im not a physical person. My rents managed to get him to go to art class because he like to draw anime sorta pictures, but he gave that up pretty quickly. What else could be a fun hobby for him to do?

Well you mentioned he used to play piano but he lost interest, maybe he could try another instrument like a guitar or saxaphone would be cool.
Theres cooking, martial arts, or photography.

Seems like your parents are to blame honestly.

You need to get him to see that he has a problem for anything to really change.

Also, tell your parents to stop feeding his unhealthy addiction and do something about it.

Though you're his brother, you're obviously smarter than him and know what you're talking about. Go to him turn off what he's playing by force and talk to him. I mean TALK, find out what the hell is up and show him that it really is bad because school is the best thing out there, and be really formal too.

He's 15 years old, he's not a child. Sitting your ass all day doing nothing but playing videos games especially at the expense of school and stealing $800 from other people especially your parents is disgusting. Immediate action needs to be taken to ensure this doesnt escalate to stage where it becomes a loss cause. Whats worse? a couple of whoopins and a lond grounding period. Or this kid becoming a nobody that will never make it life, while causing tons of problems for the parents because they have to take responsible for xxtended absences( parents can jailed for that) and his condition does not xxclude him from school. chronic gaming addiction bad Stealing terrible dropout is the worst.. I know a few ppl from school who didnt graduate and they aren't doing anything
