Forums - Sony - Retailer leaks possible release date for God of War IV!

Well we all know a recent job posting at Sony's Santa Monica studio hinted that God of War IV is in development. That report has been unconfirmed by Sony themselves and nothing definitive has been revealed about the games existence. However New Zealand video game retailer Mighty Ape has slated the unconfirmed game for a September 28th release in 2012. Of course we have seen retailers jump the gun before and list games release dates without actually knowing when they will come. However an earlier report from magazine PSM3 suggested that a source inside Sony suggested that God Of War IV would see release in September 2012, exactly when this new leak suggests it will be released.

But many fans and industry insiders are taking this leak as yet another sign that God Of War IV is in development and with this leak it is possible that the game could see release next year. Alongside the leak which suggests PS4 could see release within 2012 and the fact Microsoft's Halo 4 could be a launch title to the Xbox Ten rumored to also release in winter 2012. Some gamers are already speculating God Of War IV could be a PS4 launch title. (Though take that with a grain of salt, their is nothing but speculation to suggest it)

With all the supposed leaks that God of War IV is in development from the confirmation from Sony that the God Of War series will continue after three. To leaks supposedly from inside the studio suggesting the title has been confirmed!

Could God of War IV be a launch title for PS4? If not what does this leak suggest? Do you think their is any truth to it? Is this a form of confirmation that God Of War IV is actually in development? With all the evidence do you think God Of War IV will launch next year?

and LOL at PS4 coming next year

You really think publishers decide on release dates before they announce the game?

btw, how much does NZ$115 translate to, it sounds really expensive.

Just under £60. Pretty much NZ$2 for every £1.

Dayum.

Though I do remember paying £60 for Banjo-Tooie.

No but leaks from Sony indicate a September release date, so this retailer suggesting a date in September matches the leaked info we currently have. Also retailers often have release dates for software prior to when the dates are officially announced, they get given a window or time frame that the release date will likely be around and the retailer guesses from their setting a release date on their site. The dates change when the publisher finalizes the release info but at times the dates have been spot on, usually the dates aren't to far off.

All game retailers reveal release information before it is formally announced. The info while subject to change does suggest around what time to expect the game!

Well I haven't read the entire OP properly, but from what I understand the game itself is not yet officially announced, I understand that retailers will often get release dates before the official release date is announced, but that is not what I meant. If all we have at the moment are rumours of it being in development then no one will have decided on a release date.

I think it more likely the store itself added the date because of earlier GoW rumours, and depending on what kind of database system the store (or chain) uses may have forced, or indicated that the 28th be the date (Sept 28th is a Sunday, is that the normal game release day in NZ? alternatively the system may be that they picked the last full week in September)

GOW4 on the PS4??? xD
