But like A203D said, Resistance and Uncharted are fairly new franchises and they will probably not have as many sequels as Zelda or Mario. Still, you can bet I'll be getting a Vita with uncharted and resistance. That's a winning combo. Despite sales, these two franchises are top-notch. I got over Mario right when I turned 14. Never tried Zelda, never will.

The big boy grew up and plays little big planet now. Do you take your sack boy doll to bed with you when your mommy turns out the lights?

I play with A sack...wouldn't call it a doll :/

CAn't disagree wth any of that, but I'm speaking from gamer's point of view, not a bussiness man. If you want my honest opinion, Nintendo is playing it safe and it has worked . Mario and Zelda are legendary at this point and for some reason in most people's eyes, they can do no wrong...EVER. Here's the thing for me again, I grew out of Mario and Zelda was never a pleasing franchise for me. I've waited for new IP for Nintendo for so long and the only successful one of the top of my head are Nintendog and pikman (whatever it's called) and a shit ton of dance/party games. Nintendo, personally, has dissapointed me this gen.

Back 3 years ago, before I had a job, my dad offered to buy me and my siblings a Wii. We we're pretty excited. However, I thought about it and decided to put it off, cause being a huge PS2, I really wanted a PS3, but goddamn, was it expensive. A year later, I got a job, I bought a slim PS3 and I could not be happier. Had I gotten a Wii, I would be fucking pissed with myself. I think nintendo does not wanna take risk. Xenoblade, Last history and Pandora's tower (?) are amazing games, the kind of games that I want. Mature, fast paced, action oriented. Instead they decided to stick with what they know and dish out MArio and Zelda games and the Nintendo fan club pissed themselves in joy every single year more. They also went for the casual crowd, which let's be honest, it was probably the smartest decision they could have made.

Sorry if I got off track. My whole overall point is that I grew up on nintendo and I loved mario, not so much zelda. The fact is if you're not a fan of Zelda, Mario, Kirby or dancing/party games, The Wii just isn't for you. Look at MadWorld, The conduit and Real Steel. Excellent games but wii fans never even looked their way, those were sad days for the Wii. Nintendo played it save, they stick with what they know and they were successful. Sony took a lot of more risk and tried tons of new games, IPs etc and arguably, they have failed to come up with anything that sells in large quantities, we can all agree, but at the end of the day, I enjoy EVERY SINGLE ONE. Uncharted, Resistance, InFamous, LittleBigPlanet, Killzone, Dissidia, etc. All great quality games that I can safely say go tow to tow with any of Nintendo's IP terms  of quality and no amount of quotes from the Nintendo patrol squad or members of VGC with avatars of link will make me edit this.  Every single year after i got my PS3 (in '09), I have never  said" Shit, I've got no games to play" Had I bought a Wii, I would have gone insane...or at least become a good dancer. I thank Sony for the games they provided and I hope nintendo will finally bring some fresh faces into their consoles. I would not mine buying a Wii U.

Please, do not take this as an attack to Nintendo or it's fans. These are just the thought of a very disapointed Nintendo fan this gen.

What can I say? Your post doesn't leave room for any other interpretation. It is an attack on Nintendo and its fans, reasonable criticism looks differently. There are also doubts that you are a Nintendo fan.

1) Pikmin isn't hard to spell.

2) Nintendo didn't make a single dance game this generation.

3) The Last Story isn't a name that is hard to remember, especially because it is an amazing game.

4) Pandora's Tower is probably not that great, but naming it along with Xenoblade and The Last Story is a popular talking point, because Nintendo of America decided against publishing these games. Looks more like you just threw it in there, because you at least know as much as it sounding like valid criticism. Which it is, coming from the right person. But honestly, your whole post sounds more like covering up.

5) Real Steel, oh my. Okay, at this point I am inclined to believe that names just aren't your strength.

6) MadWorld, The Conduit and Red Steel were not excellent games. Excellent equals high quality, these games weren't even close to deserve this adjective.

7) Red Steel sold a million copies in a matter of months which is a feat for any new IP that releases during a console's launch period.

8) Like the trio of Japanese games, this trio of third party hardcore games is also a popular talking point. Basic stuff you can insert in posts to make them look better. Instead of Red Steel, it's usually No More Heroes though. But the important point here is that you called them "excellent" which strengthens the impression that you are covering up. You don't really care, you could easily be without Nintendo.

9) The "Nintendo patrol squad"? I prefer "Wii Gestapo".

Look, you can prefer Sony and their games, that's fine. But don't pass off this point of view as if it were coming from a former Nintendo fan. "Never tried Zelda, never will." - You would be the first Nintendo fan to say this. Not liking Zelda, okay. But being outspoken against even trying it? Something about your story isn't truthful. And finally:

10) Describing Xenoblade, The Last Story and Pandora's Tower as the games you want while pretty much everything else Nintendo makes doesn't fit your idea of what a game should be. This is the final nail in the coffin. Doesn't sound like you were a Nintendo fan to begin with.

PS: Dissidia is not a Sony game.

Oh my, you took the time to make a list for me. Oh gosh, I'm blushing now. I feel flattered.

Wonderful, how marvelously wonderful. Hahaha. I'm a nintendo fan. Plain and simple. If you think otherwise, well so be it. I got nothing to prove here

Sorry but if Rol hadn't I would have. You obviously never were a "Nintendo fan" from the sounds of it you were just a gamer who owned a Nintendo console and moved on. That is not a fan say I buy Pirates Of the Caribean and think its alright then the sequel comes out and I'm not that interested 3 movies later I still don't like the series. I didn't mind the first film so I call myself a fan. No I am a consumer who purchased one of the movies not a fan.

Also your arguments were hugely flawed. Red Steel was I guess a decent quality game when it launched but it was definitly not excellent. MadWorld was a disaster the game was hopelessly repetitive and lacked any creativity it used gore and violence to try and sell itself. The game was a peice of shit it lacked depth and quality, using its mature rating and gore to try and sell to so called hardcore gamers. As for Conduit it too was a mediocre game, it was the best FPS on Wii at the time but it was nothing to write home about. None of these games deserved to sell more then they did, Conduit2 is probably the only one I think should have performed slightly better since I don't think Conduit one was really that horrible.

As for the Japanese titles, Rol is right you are only mentioning them because you know everyone whines and complains about them. But you probably don't know too much about them and you are obviously oblivious to the business decision and why it was made.

As for new IP your right Sony has created some good IP lately. But you lose me when you mention Resistence having played all three Resistence titles and being a huge FPS fan they were mediocre at best. The first one was the best and the later two just got worse with every installment.

Nintendo is not playing it safe either. While they rely heavily on the success of their existing IP they created around half a dozen new IP this generation. Yah some were casual but Nintendo has had no shortage of new IP. You seem to realize it is not in Nintendo's best interest to abandon its big successful IP in favor of new IP. Yet you argue they should, well that just doesn't make sense.

Nintendo is going to bring more new IP to the table. But they will not stop supporting their existing IP. One of Sony's biggest mistakes is allowing their IP to die. Sony should have made sure they held onto Spyro and Crash they should have ensured that Sony's internal studios didn't let any franchise selling more then a million or two copies die. It was poor business decisions by Sony that has lead to their current first party software collapse.

A Nintendo fan who is against Zelda and such is not a Nintendo fan as Rol said. Even if you didn't enjoy Zelda as much as everyone else you would not be against trying it. That right their screams hostile fanboy and judging from your post your a Sony fan who dislikes Nintendo!

WipEout isn't the best example to use.... pretty sure it sold a lot more than the equivalent Nintendo game this generation.

Yes, a game that exists will necessarily sell more than a game that doesn't exist, sadly

Uncharted and Resistance both had three iterations in a single console generation...

Do I really need to google how many years, gens and games have Mario and Zelda gone through? :/

Think of it this way, rather. Sticking to consoles and going by generations as our measuring stick, Zelda has had 5 games (if we don't count Four Swords Adventures and do count Skyward Sword) in 3 generations, whereas Uncharted has had three games in one

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Guys.

Uncharted, InFamous, Resistance, Ratchet... those are not Sony franchises. Not really. Yes, they're Sony-exclusive, but Sony has nothing to do with their creation if I remember right.

I had to be reminded of F-Zero today...
