Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft asks everyone “What’s next for Kinect?” in new advertisement

Examiner

A pretty spectacular video has been made for the Xbox 360 Kinect. The video is an advertisement/introduction video for the movement device and how it has been developed by software engineers for something far beyond just gaming.

The video is a testimony of the many different ‘kinect hacks’ that have allowed the Kinect to become something more amazing than even Microsoft itself had originally planned.

After learning of the remarkable achievements made possible by early “hackers” of the Kinect software, Microsoft did something remarkable, encouraged it. The software company made the software developer kit (SDK) open to the public. Allowing users to create, modify and build upon the software, enabling it to do some pretty tremendous things. Some of which you can see in this video.

This video comes after the news Microsoft confirmed it will release a full commercial SDK for the Kinect in early 2012. Bringing Kinect from the gaming world to the business world. The video is entitled “The Kinect Effect”

“To further fuel innovation and imagination, we will offer a Kinect for Windows commercial software developer kit early next year,” said Frank Shaw, vice president of corporate communications on the Microsoft blog. “We recognize the intense commercial interest in harnessing the capabilities of Kinect, and are working with a wide range of companies and developers to create a great set of tools and APIs.

Yeah Kinect is a pretty freaking awesome piece of tech. I'm very interested to see what they do with it.

It's almost as if Apple made that advert with words like "magical" and what not, but I'm more inline to believe it with Kinect than an Ipad.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Inbe4 trolls and "no gamez eva@@@" comments.

I hope they release some more hardcore games, although the library is slowly building up, the speed at which it's doing so could be a bit more faster

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

And when will we finally see an add for an actual Kinect game worth playing?
I'm not laking about rubbing tigers/bears/cute animals, or flopping one's arms and legs and call it dancing. A real game for real gamers. When?
