3DS version for me. To be fair, the Sonic cycle ended for me with Colours (and, *gasp*, I enjoyed both Secret Rings and Black Knight too), but it's nice to hear that Generations seems to be, at least critically, the best Sonic game since the start of the so called Sonic cycle.

I too liked secret rings, and even Sonic Unleashed to an extent. However it felt detivative and not what sonic games should be like.

Sonic Colors and Episode 4 were both good and true sonic games so yeah, cycle is long over. :)

Agreed about both Secret Rings, Unleashed and Black Knight being derivative as to what a Sonic game's experience is about, though I was commenting on my personal assessment of their quality.

Colours and 4 Episode I were indeed very good true sonic games, and I'm very eager to play Generations

Btw, since you're also a Dolphin user, we possibly agree that Colours on Dolphin = Visual marvel. Probably one of the most beautiful games, artistically, this gen.

Oh absolutely. Sega really pushed the wii with that game, and once you bump it up to 1080p and give it some AA...its astonishing. Kinda makes me wonder why WiiU won't have HD support for Wii games...most of them look great.

I agree, it's quite the shame, though I'd understand that the focus of Nintendo with the Wii U is with the new tech that future software will provide for the console and not getting the most of an upgraded quality from previous software, though they can always use the same strategy (which I don't applaud nor condone) of re-brandishing a re-releasing Wii games as HD collections/versions in the Wii U.

In all cases, Emulation will always triumph, even with the upgraded tech of the Wii U, as there's no possibility of doing with a console what you can achieve with a dedicated PC. 1080p, 4xAA, 2x Native Resolution, 16x AF and even some of the upgrades like Per Pixel Lightning are just too taxing to be considered viable for a console.

First Sonic game worthy of being bought on PS3. Sold.

I really don't see why it won't, unless they're skimping on the graphics card to the point where they can do no more than emulate the Wii in its native resolution

I mean, i know what they've said, but all these things are fluid at the end of the day, though i also don't understand why my Wii doesn't have an ethernet port, and why the Wii U apparently won't either...

Anyway, i quite liked Colors, but i'm rather bitter about Generations not being on Wii. I'll pick it up on 3DS eventually. Maybe when i get back from Japan...

There are rumblings of Generations coming to WiiU though ;)

The sonic generation demo was fun as crap that's for sure!

The games seem to being do as of late. Review scores and sales combined, so they should be fine! Sales are nothing spectacular, but still the last color game did pretty well across systems!

Yeah, sonic usually sell well over time.

Otherwise who at VGchartz gave that game 7.2/10 on the official review? Whoever it is, that guy is nuts. It was one of my favorite games last year.

Rumblings??! I bet my bottom dollar that it will be out for WIi U, just like that crap Sonic 06 was ported from 360 just in time for PS3 release.

OT the cycle ended for me with All Stars Racing, it actually was quite good, hell even the online was decent.  Colors is good, i still play it once in a while and Generations is just a better version of that. The 3DS versio will be fine, just like the rest of the portable ones. Except Rivals and that Bioware game

You shall not mention the Sonic Chronicles game any longer. Let that abomination die the painful and well deserved death it deserves

Like I said in Joel's thread the demo was fun but it was a bit going to fast for me, after the two levels I had to lay down. First time this happened to me while playing a video game.

Let's just say that it's easily the worst game Bioware ever made and amongst the worst Sonics too. Yes, even worse than the crap Sonic Heroes. Plus, I've struggled to find a RPG that's easier than Sonic Chronicles...they could have saved us the pain of having to go through the badly animated battle scenes and just give us an instant win key.
