I agree, it's quite the shame, though I'd understand that the focus of Nintendo with the Wii U is with the new tech that future software will provide for the console and not getting the most of an upgraded quality from previous software, though they can always use the same strategy (which I don't applaud nor condone) of re-brandishing a re-releasing Wii games as HD collections/versions in the Wii U.
In all cases, Emulation will always triumph, even with the upgraded tech of the Wii U, as there's no possibility of doing with a console what you can achieve with a dedicated PC. 1080p, 4xAA, 2x Native Resolution, 16x AF and even some of the upgrades like Per Pixel Lightning are just too taxing to be considered viable for a console.
