Forums - Gaming - Soo it seems Square is going to screw the Americas over again.

Just make use of the PS3's lack of region lock. I'm not by any means justifying what S-E are doing, but I fail to see the gravity of this.  Plus surely, you must be accustomed to getting the best Collector's Editions from Japan anyway, so this is just a slight alteration on that

Well, after four generations of us Europeans being screwed over out of entire games from Square, it hardly seems a big deal for anyone to miss out on a few C.Es....

Be thankful you never had to go through what PAL users had to go through during the SNES days.

I can't condone behavior that SE did to EMEAA during those time periods but it is now 2011. No one should have to go through that. Everyone should get a C.E. and a launch period around the same time.

Even though I wasn't gaming during the 4th gen, I can imagine how bad it was for JRPG lovers like myself.  No Chrono Trigger, o Final Fantasy IV-VI, no Super Mario RPG, no Ogre Battle MotBQ, no Seiken Densetsu 3, no Dragon Quest V and VI, no Fire Emblem, no Tactics Ogre, no Tales of Phantasia, etc.  I guess we got Terranigma, which provides a little bit of comfort at least.

It's not like the 5th gen was much better either given the popularity of Pokemon and to a lesser degree FFVII: No DQVII, no Xenogears, no Tales of Destiny or Eternia/Destiny II, no Ogre Battle 64, no Arc the Lad I-III, no Chrono Cross, no Chrono Trigger, Tactics Ogre, Tales of Phantasia or Ogre Battle MotBQ ports, no Valkyrie Profile, etc.

I'm just happy that this gen that the likes of FFXIII, Xenoblade Chronicles, DQIX, etc all saw releases here.  Sure I'm a little bit annoyed that the likes of Soma Bringer don't make it, but the current situation is far preferable to those mentioned above.

I do not condone this action as well, but in an era were imports are easy, especially on the PS3 where there isn't region lock, it hardly seems like a problem. Sure, 360 only owners will be the ones getting the shaft from this decision since they don't have the option to import.

That behaviour of only releasing games in certain regions still happens in this gen. Had I not imported Demon's Souls, I would never know how awesome it was, even if it did come to EU regions one year afterwards (back in 2009 there was no confirmation that an EU version was in the works). All in all, yeah it's sad that these things still happen, in that I agree with you.

Oh man, Seiken Densetsu 3 and ToP... two of the best games ever released for the SNES that everyone outside of japan were deprived of in the 4th gen . Heck, had I not a NTSC SNES, I would have missed out on my favourite game of all time, Lufia II. An EU copy was as hard to get as EU Panzer Dragoon Saga >___>

I mainly want the steel book case but even if I import it I will not receive it. It's a game.co.uk exclusive and they will not ship it to international customers.

As a European, i totally disagree with the OP, because of everything MrT-Tar has said. okay its a bit unfair Sqaure Enix arnt giving American's the CE. but its not like it was in Europe, where even if you got these games they were regionally locked anyway.

but i think that Sqaure might have an alternative agenda in this case. maybe its to do with the exchange rate or something like that, but it dosent make sense why they wouldnt release the CE in US. theres probabily more demand there for a CE than Europe.

but its not like theres no way of getting this, Wagram and others could just import the UK version.

and Europe got the international version of FF10, but it came out like 6 months - 1 year after the US release. and i'm not sure FF13-2 has the same release in US and EU. so there is a trade off, it took Square way too long to localise things.

The nordic countries are luckier. They get a special FFXIII-2 Nordic Edition, this includes everything the crystal edition has but also all the revealed pre-order bonuses.

Does anyone know what the Nordic countries are?

The box art for the crystal edition is very nice

Unless I am from the U.K. I can't get what I want. Here's hoping I get to spend about 100 dollars on an over priced steel case on eBay!
