The guy is a little odd.

He was unwilling to accept the possibility that the Wii would be popular then and he's unwilling to accept the idea that it will continue to be popular.  He's made idiotic predictions about the DS again and again and again, and now that the DS has curb-stompped him 3 years running, he's finally beginning to bow to it.

As Avinash said, Pachter has changed his predictions over and over again. He's only referring to his latest prediction, probably made in November right before the holiday season began. I don't have his initial 2007 predictions on hand right now, but Pachter stated at the beginning of last year that the PS3 would dominate sales and easily beat the Wii. He then continued to stick with this prediction for many months, even as sales data continued to prove him wrong time and time again. Here's a thread from June where we discussed one of Pachter's many outbursts, where he claimed a Wii HD would be out in 2008 and the PS3 would lead in worldwide sales by the end of the generation.

Do not give this man credit; he doesn't deserve any of it.

even with all of his many changes all he has managed to do is estimate within 15% how many Wii's were gonna be manufactured through the year even though Nintendo clearly told everyone how many they were making.  Thats's no big deal.

On Pachter: He has no more insight than your average Vgchartz member, maybe even less. How does such a twit make a big name for himself?!

 Get real dude... We bearly defeated Luxemburg... 1-0 and lost from White-Russia (or how do u guys call it in the UK...) That country is ranked @ place 100 something and we're supposed to be in the top 10... But that's bullcrap... We barely qualified. If we win (Netherlands) EK2008 i'm gonna eat my computer.

I love The Bonus Round, but Pachter is always way off. And he will be again, when Wii sells over 12 million in the US in 2008.

^ are you sure you are not including Canada etc in that? because 12m just for USA is pretty huge, Pachter isn't bad at number predictions, he just makes little sense when making them.
I predict 9-10 million for USA alone, 11 for Americas.
