Battlefield 3 had racked up "close to 3 million pre-sales" as of yesterday, based on internal EA estimates.

The game released in North America today and hits Europe on Friday, with the pre-order total making it "the biggest first-person shooter launch in EA history", according to the publisher.

EA product manager Kevin O'Leary said a week ago that Battlefield 3 pre-orders had hit "a couple of million" units, while EA CFO Eric Brown said in early September that the figure stood at 1.25 million units.

I played my copy of that 3million+ last night and will play throughout the day today.

Friday can't come soon enough, but hopefully the website I've ordered it off gets it to me by Thursday, although I don't know how I'll react to that - seeing as I am working all Thursday. I'll probably the most distracted worker. Ever.

Final version is light-years past the beta.

I didn't preorder and am buying 2 copies today

I'm playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 (PC) and Medal of Honor (PS3) at the moment and somehow now I want this game badly!

I want to get this game on pc, but they dont have it on steam and i dont want to start buying from another online distributor. Is it on windows live?

How is the game superchunk?

Edit: Its not on Games for windows live, but it is on amazon, 9 dollars of too. So maybe I will download it from there.

Great sales! It may just end up selling like Modern Warfare did.

So far game is great! The new maps are good, especially the urban maps with tight alleys and amazing strategy to get past firebrigades.

I haven't played the solo but I usually never play the solo on BF games... its not what their about. THe multi is great tho and EVERYTHING is a vast improvement from the beta. Really proves that the beta was an old build of the game.

I've put about 1.5hrs into the online so far and I am at level 3... takes a little bit to get used to the slight differences in gameplay, maps, and controls.. but its awesome.

Vehicles are tight and well done... I'll try heli/jets on my next run at the game. I also need to get a headset. I heard a "few"others talking, but seems rather quiet.

The dusk/night maps are hard as visibility is really reduced. But, that is fun in its own right.
