NEVER

Microsoft is, and has always been, far more interested in pushing downloadable movies.

The HD-DVD drive was added to the 360 as a measure to muck up the format war and try and prevent Bluray from taking off. It was only done to slow the growth of an HD disc and thus make things easier for a download service to take off.

And I'm sure the profits from the add-on didn't hurt either.

Never, sony and microsoft will never partner.

Sony sells windows computers...

It dosn't mean they partnered for it. They sell computers with the most popular operating system.

So you think that Microsoft has to partner with Sony to make a Bluray add-on?

Last I checked manufacturers had to go to the Bluray forum for that sort of thing, which is an organization thats more than just Sony. Also keep in mind that there are plenty of other companies that make Bluray drives.

And you seem to be thinking that a business is one coherent organization. Often what one division does is contradictory to another. I'm sure Sonys electronics division would love to have the 360 play BR, and MS would love to take that advantage away from the PS3.

"Why do they call it the xbox 360? Because when you see it, you'll turn 360 degrees and walk away"

Lol, I love to see it when people spell blu-ray "blue-ray" and then pretend they're experts on the subject.

Well, I now only have access to a PS3 & 360...Plan on buying a wii soon (lol, if I can ever find one available!) but will probably wait until some of the major RPG's come out like Dragon Quest & Tales, etc.

Anyhow, I'm so far behind in games to play that I'm not in a huge hurry (lol, haven't even gotten a chance to finish God of War II yet!)

Its possible, not likely.

xbox 720 is not to far of, probably it wont feature and dick format but a big harddrive.

That's nit picking a bit isn't it - is that why you come on here, to trip people up on their mistakes and then have a laugh about it?

Those people that think they're perfect give a bad reputation to us who are...

"With the DS, it's fair to say that Nintendo stepped out of the technical race and went for a feature differentiation with the touch screen, but I fear that it won't have a lasting impact beyond that of a gimmick - so the long-lasting appeal of the platform is at peril as a direct result of that." - Phil Harrison, Sony

Never. Even if MS wanted to, Sony won't let them. But they don't want to either... Trust me on this one, MS wants no part in this whatsoever.

They will, when blu-ray becomes a big selling point for the PS3.

I think people here are looking at the situation like its 2 enemies not willing to work with each other. Yall do know that Blu Ray movies are encoded with a MICROSOFT video encoding, right?

So funny thing people dont realize, Microsoft even makes money off of Blu Ray as well, off the licensing fee for using a Microsoft developed movie codec.

Everyone assumes automatically that Microsoft and Sony are arch enemies, but they are honestly not really competitors. The only thing they compete in really is the gaming industry. Thats it. Microsoft is primarily a software company, Sony primarily an consumer electronics company. Do you see Microsoft TVs out there? do you see Sony operating systems or Sony making their own "Microsoft Word"?

Not to mention, these businesses, the gaming divisions of these 2 companies, is small potatoes compared to the rest of the company. Wasnt like microsofts game division last quarter like 300 million, compared to 4.3 billion of the entire company?

Microsoft may end up creating an external drive which supports Blu-Ray, but I suspect that they're waiting for the dual format drives to come down in price (a little more) so they can sell a dual format drive for $199 ...

MS said they could, but I don't think it's like. MS would be hard pressed to allow something from Sun Mircosystems (java) on a proprietary MS platform.
