I do wish they had made a bigger emphasis on bringing something new into Forza 4 though, because it doesn't feel like it has a killer feature over Forza 3. It's "just" upgraded many existing features, and though the upgrades are very comprehensive and make for a much improved game, it still makes it come off a bit conservative. |
They did do Autovista (kinda the "killer" new feature) and a whole lot of Kinect integration (outside of the obvious driving using Kinect), as well as some neat new online modes (rivals, bowling, soccer, etc.) but I agree. I don't know what they could've done but I do get the same feeling that there seems to be some kind of hole.

I think Autovista is a symbol of what is missing in Forza 4. Turn 10 focused so much of their efforts on the graphics, that they didn't get to add anything really big to the racing experience, like night racing for example.
Thankfully, their new lighting allows them to do night racing more easily, so I think we'll see it in the next game (whether that will be on the 360 or 720 remains to be seen of course). Either way, after reviewers have been pointing out how similar Forza 4 is to Forza 3 in many ways, Turn 10 are sure to want to shake things up. They're usually pretty good at doing the right things with their next game.
My personal most wanted is a comprehensive tutorial. I can drive around for as much as I want, but I want to be taught to be a good driver. Teach me when I need to change gear and why, how to take a turn and why, etc.
