Well if it works, it works. Bashing the PS3 for that is as bad, and dishonest, as those claiming the capacity is vital for 7th gen gaming.

I'm bashing it? I'm just stating what Capcom has said, and if Gamespot is right, which it seems they are, people are going to have to dedicate 30 minutes for the damn thing to download.

It sucks in the shortterm, but in the end, it may pay off dividends.

Oh. I thought you meant just padding the disc, the way some PS2 games did, not installing it.

Installing is annoying. They could have just streamed, the way the Xbox did. The only excuse I'm taking for that is that it could be an anti-piracy measure.

The install is optional. You can either install 5gb and have no loading, or not and have loading like the 360 version.

The ps3 version also has lossless audio, for those with the meansto useit. :)

You didn't read the link.

First is an annoyance that we're sure many will complain about: the 5GB install to remove the game's load times is not optional. When the game releases, you'll be forced to endure minutes upon minutes of waiting as the game copies gigabytes of data to your PS3 hard drive.

Also, where did you get lossless audio? It would make sense, but where's any proof? It's not in that link.

From the original ps3fanboy article discussing this topic:

http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2007/12/26/devil-may-cry-4-to-include-hard-drive-install-5-1-lpcm-audio-p

Apparently, I didn't read the new story thoroughly enough, but here's what the original article said:

An optional hard drive install will supposedly remove all load times from the game. But, be warned -- it's quite a hefty install at nearly 5GB. Not only will load times be shortened on the PS3, but audiophiles will be glad to hear that the PS3 version also includes 5.1 LPCM audio. There's also support for the PSN, although how exactly it will work is still unclear. Regardless, it makes us glad to see the PS3 version of DMC4 get extra functionality.

Okay.

I'm pretty sure the 360 version is going to load faster than the uninstalled PS3 version, y'know with faster disk drive and all. But if people can't dedicate 30 minutes for install and much greater loading times then shame on them, I've been waiting for this game for years so an extra 30 minutes is not a problem.

Unless the 360 version is on a dual-layer disc or has to use the slower part of the disc to load data, in which case the PS3 would load faster.  However, allowing install makes the PS3 version the one to get.  I really enjoyed the 5GB install for RR7 and Oblivion.  Great stuff.  You can always delete it, too, and reinstall later.  It is not the same as the save data.

Ah!! Thank god!! I'd give even 10GB for no load times on the PS3 since they take soooo long!

I attached an unused 200GB external SATA drive to my PS3 using the port adapter that was floating around the blogosphere shortly after release. Plenty of room.

200GB? you lucky S.O.B.!!

I saw an 160GB HD online for about $109 CAD. I might pop into my local future shop to see if they have one like it.

I got a 500gig from Future Shop (for my birthday) for about $150 CDN

Unfortunately, my 360 doesn't support it, and it's the one that's running low on space :'(

Loading on the 360 isn't reported as slow as it would be with a dual layer disc. So developers can adjust for it.

I don't really see a problem with installing game data, especially since I've been mainly renting and once I would play through a game, I'm probably not going to need the data again. The only thing it could cut into are demo's and the HD trailers as those will take up a lot of space. However, those are things that can easily be cleaned up to free some more space as well as getting rid of game data installed from other games.
