What about the fact that they execute gay pepole?

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

I guess this is their culture, but it just seems so horrible from another perspective, like mine. I am sure the females don't like it that much either!

I wouldn't call it Iranian culture rather Islamic extremism trying to control culture. In Iran the Government doesn't want the people realizing that people of other countries actually have things better then they do. People have been imprisoned for writing books critical to the Government or films (This isn't the first) and music.

If leaders or people are critical they are arrested, if those people aren't Muslim there is a good chance they will be executed. Iran is as bad as Libya except for the fact to my knowledge they didn't kill as many protestors when the Government ordered its troops to shoot civilians. An Islamic Theocracy that tries to completely control the lives of the people within.

There is no such thing as freedom in the country. The Government does not want anybody getting ideas that they should be entitled to freedom. The Government will suppress any actions or mediums which draw the Government in even the slightest negative light.

Also the Iranian Government is notorious for abusing women and condoning horrific acts against them. Woman are second class citizens in fact often they are treated as property or animals. I don't think this arrest really is nearly as bad as other things the Government has done to oppress women in the country.

I think just like other countries like this, there is no hiding it in this day and age. SO why do they even try?

Well actually the Governments of Iran and China are very good at keeping the general public completely oblivious to these issues. Heck I knew a lady who came to Canada on an immigrant visa a few years ago. She thought the world of China but after a while began to ask why the western media had such a strong bias against China. She was my mom's friend and we told her about Tiananmen square and the suppression of Tibet etc...etc.. we showed her videos and websites and such. She got upset and said the west was making it all up and that China would never have done those things. Apparently the west has brainwashed us with lies and the great country of China is a complete victim.

However after living in Canada for like a year and getting to know fellow Chinese she realized that these things actually happened. She then applied for immigrant status and found a way to get her husband and daughter out of China.

Fact is Iran has the same control mechanisms as China does. Control over the media and internet and even word of mouth cracking down on anyone who tries to spread the truth. The Iranian Government then makes examples out of those they don't like showing Iranians what will happen if they rise up.

Fact is you'd think is this day and age people anywhere on the globe would be able to figure out these things. But these communist and dictatorial countries are very good at keeping their people in the dark.
