If I had to pick from that list I would say shooters. But my favorite type of game is a FPS game with strong RPG elements.

Shooter easily it has been that way since I first discovered Goldeneye 007. There are tons of variety despite what people who dislike the genre think. Due to the incredible amount of shooters this gen, it has been my favorite of all since I first started with the Atari.

Open-world or semi-open action games. (Mass Effect, Red Dead Redemption, Demon's Souls, Ratchet & Clank)

Stealth games. (Metal Gear Solid, Hitman, old Socom, old Splinter Cell).

Straight up action games. (God of War, Batman, Uncharted)

Competitive shooters. (Halo, Left 4 Dead, old Socom, Killzone)

I would argue that most of the games you mentioned are shooters of different subtypes.

You could make that argument, but I would say most of the games I mentioned aren't competitve shooters...or at least they aren't good competitive shooters.

I can't fit all the genres on the poll. I did forget puzzle and fighting games.

fair enough, truth be told i like just about everything. RTSs are not my thing, just started getting into point and click games(phoenix wright), exercise "games" dont have no need for since im not a fat ass. I cant stand MMOs, the only genre i will absouletly not play. Not really into sim games either(Maddens, NBAs, GTs, Forzas)
