Forums - Sony - Everybody Dance vs Just Dance 3 (PS3)

With the dance game genre about to kick start again in the next few weeks I wanted to get some insight to how everyone feels about this comparison. It doesn't take a scientist to realize that Dance games are the new "it" with groups or parties. Much like Guitar Hero and Rockband were a few years ago. So it's only naturally that Sony would want in on this new expanding genre. Now in the past, Sony has done Singstar and Singstar dance. However the dance version didn't fare too well at that time in the sales department.

PS Move as we know is not as successful as Kinect but granted they have sold some #'s of PS Move for different genres like shooters, side scrollers, adventure games and more casual friendly games. So the PS Move userbase is there, but just in more a diversified way.

So as Dance games go, there's going to be some uptick to the move sales this holiday with 2 new dance games, Everybody Dance and Just Dance 3.

So same as the other thread with Kinect goes, prediction time it is. Will the name brand of Just Dance 3 be the better selling Dance game this holiday?  Or will the Dance crowd actually support this PS3 exclusive (punt not intended lol ) It's also worth noting that Everybody Dance is getting a bundle with PS Move as well this month.

Everybody Dance vs Just Dance 3 (PS3)

What's your pick for the Move Dance Crown this holiday season?

??? They are both going to flop, hard. Lets not kid ourselves the PS3 crowd, for the most part doesnt give one damn about these game. As for which game will do better,it can go either way. Just Dance already is established, so it has that going for it (there is even a kids version coming to PS3 as well), but i doubt Ubisoft will give it any ads, just like the PS3 version of MJ. Everybody Dance, it all depends on Sony's marketing, but i doubt they will give it any anyway, not with Uncharted 3 coming. Im leaning more toward Just Dance, because the Sony game looks like crap to be honest.

I'm wondering why anybody but Sony fanatics would care about Everybody Dance.

i wish dance central would make it over...one of the very few games on the 360 that i wish so. don't really care about JD

I have to be the biggest dance junky on this website, been playing DDR for years. I'll be keeping a close eye on these titles.

I just went through my weekly flyers, and Zellers, Walmart and Futureshop are advertising Just Dance 3 as a Kinect/Wii exclusive. They only show the boxart for those 2 versions and say Kinect/Wii for the section. Talk about an advertising blunder..

it wouldnt work, the PSeye isnt anywhere near as accurate as the Kinect, so DC would suck on PS3

It really could work.  I have seen Kinect be innacurate with people with dresses and baggy jeans in Dance Central. It's no big deal. As there is no direct equivalent of user seeing themselves when it tells you your error either so its not like most would notice(because the people playing certainly didn't) as long as it's not off to often. You are too busy trying to groove and enjoying the social atmosphere. You could use move to help with checking for hand/arm movements.

Not to say that without M$'s software it wouldn't be more difficult to program for the camera but Just Dance is larger than Dance Central and even less accurate. I know people of people that prefer Just Dance and it's not because of accuracy. That's a core gamer thing YOU are worried about that most consumers aren't.  It's more like song selection and contetnt they prefer and with 2 main titles plus side games and cheaper prices the answer is superflous as to which sales attest. $190 for Kinect and DC versus every copy of JD available and extra wii motes at that price is a very compelling difference.

There is a strong argument that there isn't much of an audience for these games. However I would argue that simply because these games have really yet to appear with any backing even Sony's own offering was lackluster. People don't expect this software on PS3 because it hasn't been there for 4 years. You have to build an audience.  JD never sold amazing out of the gate. It was support and andvertising that built it to what it is. They were helped greatly by the Wii being the place people expect fun party games because that is where that type of software has appeared and been backed on that console.

I just looked through the track lists and in my opinion Just Dance 3 is just way way ahead there.
