I'm confused about that first bit...
And as to the second bit, I was just pointing out that Shoot 'Em Up may have been more than just a fluke/coincidence.

Again, you could still get LotR on blu-ray, especially since New Line has actually given more blu-ray releases than HD-DVD.
You still think mainstream consumers are even aware of one HD format, let alone two, that are supposedly scaring them off? Warner may think so, but if they push for mainstream awareness, that would have a better affect than simply going exclusive.

I'm confused about that first bit... I mean that blu-ray releases tend to be on one disc, while HD-DVD releases tend to be on two. Since a blu-ray release would have to squeeze the movie along with the extras, something would have to be dropped to fit in the higher bitrate, unless they wise up and realize only blu-ray fanboys care about multi-disc releases. And as to the second bit, I was just pointing out that Shoot 'Em Up may have been more than just a fluke/coincidence. Okay, I stand corrected. |

This is the beginning of the end for HD-DVD! soon Universal Studios and Paramount will come crawling back to Blu Ray and beg Sony (or whoevers in charge) to let them produce movies for Blu Ray.
It was a stupid decision for Paramount to produce HD-DVD movies to start with now they will suffer the consequences.

Get what they deserve.
Anyways, I am still waiting for that LOTR Blu-Ray.

Yes, a bunch of fanboy insults on message boards must surely sting, when what you say won't really hurt their sales, especially with DVD sales in general, where the studuios get their real money, being unaffected by this annoucement.

I really don't see how this benefits consumers. I have invested in both formats so I wouldn't get screwed...
But, what is Warner saying to their fans who purchased HD DVD players only?
Also, I think this makes the war worse not better. It is going to be dig in time. If the studios that are on the HD DVD dig in, the war may never get resolved.
This generation of DVD stinks. And it is only getting worse not better.
