Capcom have finally bitten the bullet in regards to the highly criticised Mega Man Legends 3 cancellation. In response to the collossal outcry from fans, left disgruntled after Capcom pulled the plug on the 3DS title, that was essentially built upon fan interaction.

The cancellation caused a utter divide between Capcom and their fanbase. Fans then mounted an elaborate effort to overturn Capcom’s decision, sadly the effort was in vain. However, news has now broke that Capcom have begun the hefty task of sending letters to some of their more vocal fans, in order to apologize and thank them for their support. However, the letters are currently only being sent to Japanese fans.

It is unknown whether the letters will be sent outside of Japan, but as of posting they have only been recieved by Japanese Mega Man Legends 3 fans. Even though, the apology notes may currently be only circulating through-out Japan, it is a sign that Capcom does truly regret what is without a doubt a huge mistake. Unfortunately, Capcom have shown no hint of correctly this grave mistake, nor is it likely they will for the forseeable future.

The letters feature a personalized letter from Capcom, a sketch of the Servbot character from the series as well Servbot key-rings. Here is an example of one of the letters that was recieved by a fan of series:

I think they're doing it only to shut people up about MML3

I thought it was because they were nervous about the 3DS, now that it is doing well they should un cancel it?

we don't know why it was canceled.  could have bene 3DS confidence, could have been bad development process, could be they needed the resources for some other higher profile project (e.g. monster hunter).

no.. we don know CAPCOM cancelled Legends3 because they did not believe there would be enough 3DS on the to generate a profit so in a sense Legends3 was being made only by default bomb. They see it like this if there is 2mill 3DS and we want 1mill sold for Legends3 .. whats the chances the half the fanbase would by it?

Capcom likely didn't want to do MML3 at all, just that Inafune kept pushing and pushing for it, and once he left they canned it at the first convenient opportunity

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

A) is that suppose to be a "do" or a "don't"?

B) assuming that you meant "do" (as context would suggest) give me a link.  i'm guessing you can't come up with anything where capcom specificly states they cancelled the game due to a lack of confidence in the 3DS which means we can only speculate on the cancelation.  if fact, speculating that Legends3 was cancelled due to a lack of confidence in the 3DS is quite possibly the dumbest conclusion you could come to seeing as they took monster hunter (capcom's largest current IP after resident evil) and is putting the next entry on the 3DS.  that doesn't really sound like the action of a company that has a lack of confidence in the 3DS.

*sadface*

Poor Mega Man...

I wonder if anyone defaced those letters and slapped a "return to sender" label on it.

Hey Kitler Whats safer? putting a series CAPCOM has no confidence in on platform CAPCOM had(as 3DS sales have picked up) no confidence in or Milking Monster Hunter with a update AND real sequel which would Sale anywhere? Thats confidence in Monster Hunter ... not 3DS.

They better be sorry, I was looking forward to that game!
