The latest issue of Xbox World is reporting via the rumor section that a number of Microsoft developers are currently prepping a wave of brand new titles for the unannounced successor to the Xbox 360.

According to the November 2011 edition of the publication, a notable selection of high-profile development studios are now in the process of manning big-budget teams for a bout of new games for the Xbox 720.

Recent rumors floating about include the possibility that Turn 10 are hard at work on Forza 5 for the fabled next generation console, in addition to powerhouse developer Epic supposedly developing Gears of War 4 as a launch title for the device – tantalizingly rumored to be pegged in for a 2013 release.

Would make sense. Forza 4 being the last hurrah for the 360 for big racers, Gears 3 being the last Gears related games on the 360 and "Fable On Rails" being the last Fable for the 360.

Halo 4 is a nice way to to send off the 360 and the promise of Halo 5 coming out for the 360 successor should get a few purchases.

It all made sense until the part about Rare and a new Mature game.

Turn 10 are the only studio in MS first party I think is right to pump out a game from the same franchise every two years.

If you figure that a rapidly developed quality game on the HD consoles took 2 years, with most of these games taking 3 or more years, I would be surprised if most major publishers didn't have games already under development for next generation consoles. After all, if Sony and Microsoft try to produce a system with a significant (generational) jump in graphics over what is being done on the HD consoles today games that take advantage of this will require 2 to 4 times as much development work; and this will translate into longer development times.

Make Black & White 3 a launch game and I'll jump in for the first time.
