Lucasarts Working On Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic 3? – PSM3 November 2011

A fascinating rumor regarding a potential sequel to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 has cropped up in the rumor section of gaming publication PSM3, with the November 2011 edition stating that LucasArts is currently hiring for an undisclosed number of positions relating to an ”open-world RPG”.

LucasArts creative director Clint Hocking previously posted a link on Twitter to the developers official recruitment website where a selection of suspicious listings were posted, including an advert for a talented and experienced gameplay engineer who will work on engine code for an unannounced role-playing title – the listing did not make any specific reference to online multiplayer features or relevant platforms, with the ideal candidate set to boast console development experience, in addition to ”a passion for making and playing innovative games.”

Avid fans have recently been salivating at the thought of a sequel to the massively popular, fan-favorite Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic franchise – hopefully these tantalizing rumors regarding a possible sequel hold some factual worth. Check out the rumor below and in the November 2011 edition of PSM3.

  • ”The devs behind Star Wars The Force Unleashed are hiring for an ‘open-world’ RPG. The project was outed in a tweet from ex-Far Cry 2 dev Clint Hocking, who now works for LucasArts. Does this mean Activision are working on an answer to the Old Republic, Bioware’s Star Wars MMORPG?”

Would prefer an star wars batllefront ^^''

This is unlikely to be TOR related especially considering that LucasArts is working with Bioware on TOR, also what does Activision have to do with this?

They are also working on a an action adventure game (probably Kinect Star Wars), a first-person shooter, and an aerial combat game. And they are apparently focusing on "new franchises" so at least 2 of the games in development probably won't be set in existing franchises and given that fact that the areal combat game is most likely (fingers crossed) a new X-Wing vs Tie Fighter game (or a new Secret Weapons Over Normandy game) and one is already Star Wars related I doubt that the open world game is set in the TOR universe.
