Lots of the "Suicides" in Japan are actually caused by families getting revenge on other families, or one family member dishonoring said family thus them getting rid of this member ...ect
and i'm talking about Yakuza families, yeah it may sound like its from a mob movie, but that stuff really happens, they just blame it on suicide and locals don't talk about it.

That is horrible! But it makes sense though  I guess. Very sad. If I was police there would be some cameras set up here and there to try and deter it or catch people doing this.

if you are talking about Yakuza members, then no, Yakuza is a big part of the japanese culture, they "force" the country and government to evolve and prosper, they can't simply go away, and the Yakuza and governments are two sides of the same coin, kinda like how "Tea Party" is with the US government.

most of the people who are killed by yakuza are just corrupt or "Scum of the earth" so no one gives a damn anyways, i've met a lot of Yakuza members when i went to japan and thailand, you recognize them from the huge tattoos on their backs, in japan , tattoos aren't very common, if you have a tattoo you are considered an outcast or a yakuza.

Wow, I did not know that. Did you live there or just visited a few times?

no just visited, but most of the work i did was with companies who had the yakuza's "Approval" , they all had a tattoo of a huge snake with arms, i actually asked them to show it to me.

but really Yakuza isn't as bad as you'd think... well appart from the lowlife kids that start trouble to show off their yakuza families, stupid kids everywhere in the world.

as for foreignors, the yakuza won't have any business with you, so don't be afraid to go there because of the yakuza , the yakuza themselves like i said, are mostly nice people just like everyone else , japan is a beautiful place, especially Kyoto, i personally want to live there sometime.

and by now i think i went off subject for too long lol, i love the guy in the video, he's so sinsere.

One last thing off subject. I guess I never really thought of them as bad either. I have never been there, but you never really get that image of them that they are bad. Now the Chinese Mafia on the other hand!!! I always see them as bad in movies and other places.

That whole dialogue was very interesting to read. I wouldn't mind reading something about the role of the Yakuza in Japan. I must say I know nearly nothing about the subject.

I see that 6 people have said they have thought about it. I wonder what makes a person decide not to other than they dont want to die. What was that one thing they decide to live for?

This topic is beyond the scope of this forum.

*serious face*

Very eerie video

The whole thing seems so unreal

No, I've never thought seriously about suicide.

Go ahead and call me apathetic (or a dick or whatever) but I couldn't possibly care less about suicide. If people are pussies and want to kill themselves the first time life gets a little tough then let them. We shouldn't waste any government money on programs to try and stop suicide.

The worst part about this suicide forest is the mess people make with leaving their bodies and some rope lying around. Damn litterers.

Saw this on stumbleupon recently. Pretty disturbing stuff. Imagining getting lost in that forest and running into these dead bodies. Couldn't think of a much more frightening nightmare than that..

I completely understand the suicide part, but why in a forest? Suicide tourism to places like Golden Gate Bridge and really tall buildings makes sense because the person commiting the act chooses that as their preferred method of going through with it, but what can you do in a forest you can't do somewhere else?

PS: Did anyone else click on this expecting to see something related to the Divine Comedy Inferno?

I am not sure if your were serious about suicide tourism but still... People in japan tend to commit suicide in this kind of places because your family is responsible of any damages that you could cause due to the said suicide... Aka: If you suicide in a hotel, the hotel can ask your family for a "compensation" because their hotel will always be remembered as the place where someone suicided...

I was serious in that suicide tourism to places that I mentioned is somewhat of a common thing. I have nothing but contempt for that Japanese law (I assume it is real since I can recall hearing about it before) which punishes someone for another person's actions. The only person responsible would be the suicidal person him/herself for any damages.
